Class A CDL Transfer Station Utility Position

Sweet Home Sanitation a Waste Connections company, is looking for a dynamic Class A CDL Transfer Station Utility Personnel, in Sweet Home, OR

Schedule: Tues-Sat. 7:00am-4:00pm

Starting pay is $26.00/hr DOE, with regular wage increases.

Must hold a current Class A CDL.

This position is responsible for operating in the transfer station’s scale house; collecting payment, directing traffic, record keeping, etc. This position assists with all transfer station operations, including operating yellow iron equipment and transporting materials with a Class A Tractor Trailor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

First point of contact for trucks coming onto our site, directing traffic, and ensuring a safe working environment.Scale house attendant: Work with customers face to face.Measure and charge for loads of trash using basic math.Accept cash, credit cards or able to learn. Operate forklift, excavator, backhoe or other equipment as needed. Drive Tractor Trailer as needed.Yard and facility maintenance including debris and clean up.Learning the operations of the transfer station.Spotting Trucks.Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.Specific duties can change on the daily basis as operation needs change.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Class A CDL Must be able to drive commercial truck to and from transfer site. Must be able to operate both Manual & Automatic transmission vehicles.Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules that are set forth; promotes the Company’s safety standards; work with a sense of honesty, integrity and trustworthiness.Ability to adhere to work schedule and follow through on challenges as they ariseBasic knowledge of truck components to complete pre- and post-trip inspections.At least 2 years of work experience.  Preferably in a labor type position.Experience operating equipment; forklift, skid steer, excavator, or similar preferred.Ability to perform a physically demanding job, loading and unloading, at times with no helpers.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

The employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.Frequently walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, climb stairs and ladders.Work environment involves some exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts which require following basic safety precautions.
