The Classified System Administrator is responsible for the administration of: Computer systems hardware, network gear, software, information systems & peripheral equipment such as servers, desktops, zero clients, storage devices, and virtualization infrastructure.
Maintains, installs, upgrades and configures data systems (Windows/Linux/VMWare/SQL Server), administers operating systems (Windows/Linux), and maintains basic security and recovery procedures such as performing patches and system backups.
Administration of infrastructure including but not limited to
servers, zero clients, malware protection software, HBSS, syslog servers, databases, etc.
Under general supervision, solves complex problems requiring detailed knowledge of field and industry best practices.
Uses experience and problem-solving skills to develop and improve processes · Upgrades systems and processes as required for enhanced functionality and/or security issue resolution.
Authors and/or reviews configuration change requests and attends all configuration change review board meetings.
Identifies potential risks or inefficiencies associated with the configuration of the system and recommends appropriate mitigation strategies.
Ensures compliance with data security policies, relevant legal and regulatory requirements, and DOD cyber security program implementation plans in accordance with DOD directives and applicable RMF requirements.
Qualifications:
This position requires the ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility, and the ability to maintain that clearance throughout the position lifecycle US Citizenship is required for access to the work facility
This position requires the ability to obtain a DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or III certification (i.e. Security+, CASP, CISSP), with the ability to maintain that certification throughout the position lifecycle Knowledge on operating system functions, security policies and technical security safeguards
Ability to move, rack, stack and install physical equipment by lifting up to 25 lbs. Knowledge of NIST 800-53 or DoD 5205.07 Series or Risk Management Framework and Joint SAP implementation Guide requirements.
Knowledge of performance monitoring and tuning, upgrades and patching, backup and recovery, as well as troubleshooting and problem resolution.
Experience working independently and as part of a team in researching data, developing analytical techniques and methodologies.
Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy Objects.
Desired Skills:
Bachelors of Science degree from accredited University
Experience with Windows user account management, administration and access controls
Systems Administration experience supporting United States Government classified environments
Experience in applying DISA STIGs and resolving security vulnerabilities Experience with PowerShell scripting Fundamental understanding of the OSI model
Fundamental understanding of authentication mechanisms such as Kerberos, LDAP and NTLM and use of necessary tools to troubleshoot them Understanding of technology areas such as Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy and WSUS
Knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, SMTP, NFS, FTP, Telnet and SSH
Installation and configuration experience of Microsoft Windows 10 or 11 workstations and peripherals
Experience with network-attached storage or storage area networks
Experience with audits of key IT components to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
