About the Role & TeamThe Studio Clearances team handles many aspects of legal clearances, including those related to production and marketing of films and other content released theatrically and on various home entertainment formats including Disney+. The team advises content production staff (e.g., production supervisors, producers, writers, art departments, set decorators, prop masters, costumers, editors, visual effects, animators) of clearance procedures. In connection therewith, they also review scripts, screenings, artwork, dailies, rough and final cuts of films, websites, bonus content, behind the scenes/EPK materials, interviews, bloopers, deleted scenes, trailers, TV spots and other marketing materials, commercial tie-ins, print ads, DVD menus and packaging materials to identify potential clearance issues.
The Clearance Coordinator will be a vital part of the clearance team providing day-to-day support managing workflows and processes in connection with the production and marketing clearance needs of live action and animation motion pictures, with an emphasis on use of computer applications for tracking and document management.
What You Will DoMaintain and manage clearance status reports, department contacts directory, clearance database for all bonus materials, production release forms, digital document signing and digital document filingCommunicate and coordinate with production offices in connection with meetings/calls, script distribution, clearance requests, payments, department forms and protocolCommunicate and coordinate with internal studio departments (e.g. legal, production, post production, marketing, consumer products) in connection with meetings/calls, screenings, exchange of documents and other informationAssist in viewing dailiesRIM advisor for the teamFacilitate and track required payments for research services, licensing, and/or other fees.Facilitate and track font seat licensing assignments for each productionUnder supervision, transmit, follow-up, and track standard clearance requests to outside partiesPerform internet/phone research in connection with fictional/non-fictional elements for films and/or obtaining rights informationDevelop expertise with current and future computer applications utilized in the departmentSearch and retrieve archival department information as neededRequired Qualifications & SkillsAt least 1 year entertainment experience, preferably in television/motion picture production and/or production legalProficiency in advanced technology as a means of problem-solving.Strong critical thinking skillsForward-thinking, ability to identify opportunities to increase efficiency and implement/ adapt to the changeProven capability to take initiative and seek increased responsibilitiesOutstanding written and verbal communication skillsAbility to multi-task in a fast-paced and fluctuating environmentProficient in autonomously prioritizing work and managing deadlinesStrong proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and WordEducationBachelor’s degree or equivalent work experienceThe hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $53,300.00 to $71,300.00 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
