JOB SUMMARY\:
This role advises patients and/or guarantors of their benefits, financial responsibilities and secures payment of patient’s liability
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES\:
Smiles and provides caring customer service.Determines patient’s insurance benefits and eligibility requirements.Determines patient’s precertification requirements.Explains insurance benefit information to patients.Provides patients with an estimated liability amount due.Explains how the financial responsibility was determined.Explains payment options for estimated patient liability.Secures payment of estimated patient liability.Follows internal cash control procedures when securing payment(s) of estimated patient liability.Assists patients with establishing payment arrangements.Visits all in-house self-pay patients, evaluates and refers for Medicaid eligibility and/or presumptive coverage and other indigent programs; state, hospital charity, etc.Visits all in-house patients with an estimated patient liability to explain insurance benefit information and estimated patient liability.Follows up with patients if registration information collected at the time of hospitalization was incomplete.Enters updated patient demographic and insurance information in the computer system.Enters pertinent notes into the collection notes of the registration system. If the patients account has final billed, enter the notes in the appropriate collection notes system.Works closely with outside agencies and/or vendors in assisting patients applying for Medicaid and/or State aid.Assists patients and consumers in applying for Health Insurance Marketplace insurance.Maintains a professional image and provides excellent customer service to patients and consumers.Attends department meetings, education sessions and hospital specific training programs.Meets/exceeds performance expectations within required timeframes.Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and Mission and Value statement of the Hospital.Supports special projects and business analysis as requested.Adheres to all HSC/Hospital Policies and Procedures.Performs other duties as assigned.JOB SUMMARY\:

High school diploma or GED required.Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities\:
