ROLE PURPOSE

The purpose of the Planning Executive role is to support the client team in the planning and implementation of client campaigns. They support the development of communication plans and management of digital campaigns from buying and implementation through to reporting and the delivery of insights to drive performance for our clients. The Planning Executive ensures attention to detail in all facets of their work and will take responsibility for any errors that occur

 

KEY OUTPUTS

Maintain Internal relationships

• Maintain relationships with internal teams and relevant external groups e.g. media owners and partner agencies to benefit clients and Spark to achieve their business objectives.

• Be knowledgeable of the clients’ products, target audiences, communications strategies and key messages. Research past brand or product strategies and results,

• Understand the competitive landscape of clients categories, consumer behaviour and changes to the marketplace.

• Work in collaboration with the relevant internal resources and the Snr Planning Exec / Client Manager to create effective cross channel communication plans.

• Actively contribute to weekly (internal and external) WIP meetings, to raise potential issues within your client portfolio well in advance of the ‘boiling point’ for an issue.

 

Media planning and implementation

• create clear and coherent plans that support client’s business objectives (e.g. timing, budget and business requirements).

• Be knowledgeable of each medium's primary strengths and weaknesses. • Work with and be able to interpret research, market data and systems (e.g. Netratings, Market Intelligence, ComScore, Roy Morgan and AdRelevance) to increase planning and trading effectiveness.

• Take on the day to day responsibility of the implementation process. Ensure media is bought and delivered to plan to meet objectives.

• Map out timelines and deliverables including reporting and key deadlines for creative agency and publishers.

 

Support Activations team with partner briefings and negotiations

• Work with Activations team for partner briefings and response evaluations, providing feedback to partners

• Keep pace with market knowledge that will aid negotiations.

• Support the Activations team to ensure all planning ideas are delivered through the trading process

 

• Trafficking and tracking campaigns

• Be proficient in using 3rd party ad serving tools such as DoubleClick & Sizmek

• Work with Snr Planning Exec and/or Client Manager to deliver ROI tracking recommendations for all client campaigns.

 

Campaign analysis and optimisation

• Monitor and optimise campaigns regularly to ensure maximum budget is spent and campaigns are performing as effectively and efficiently as possible

• Clearly demonstrate and report how campaign results relate to the strategic intent of the campaign and have achieved agreed objectives.

• Identify and recommend optimisation opportunities and ensure those optimisations are taken place promptly and correctly.

 • Work alongside Snr Planning Exec to create post campaign reports to demonstrate media performance, market conditions, tangible insights and recommendations for future campaigns

• Deliver the reports on time and error free. Manage clients’ expectations (via Communication Manager) when there will be delays.

 

Campaign Management & Finance processes

• Reconcile campaign delivery and ensure the final delivered plan reflects billings.

• Check proformas each month during invoicing time and execute any changes that may be required.

• Attend to account queries immediately and have zero outstanding account queries on a weekly basis.

• Maintain accurate budget and spend management of campaigns. • Detail all campaign finance changes across media plans and systems.

• Complete final buy documents and enter rates into trading sheets after every bought plan. Advise team of any savings that can be reinvested or returned.

 

Competitor & Market Analysis

 • Proactively completes regular and continuous analysis of competitor activity, market trends, economic issues and other factors effecting buys.

• Sources content and provide relevant insights for inclusion within competitor and market reviews and other adhoc client requests. Support Coordinator

• Sets a good example for Coordinators and ensures they have all the tools and information they need to perform their jobs well.

• Motivate them through personal influence, enthusiasm, creativity and energy

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• 1.5 -3 years experience

• Preferably a University degree or higher education qualifications

• Expert understanding and working knowledge of Australian media landscape

• Expert across the following Office platforms: Word, PowerPoint and Excel

• Have a full understanding and experience using the following tools:

eTAMBMDRoy MorganEMMAeRAMNielsen Digital / AnswersSizmek and/or DCMMOVEAQX Fusion
