Climate and Coastal Resilience Intern
**Job Overview:** APTIM, a leading engineering firm with a global presence and a thriving **Coastal Resilience** practice, is pleased to announce an immediate opening for a **Climate & Coastal Resilience Intern** for government clients. This position is intended to play an important role in expanding APTIM's climate change mitigation and adaptation service offerings and to support ongoing city and regional planning, benefits assessment and project design for energy, flood, infrastructure, and natural systems resilience. The APTIM team is multidisciplinary offering community resilience program management, infrastructure engineering, energy efficiency program management, disaster recovery, and coastal restoration services. APTIM work with both government and private clients on a wide range of urban, environmental, and coastal issues. APTIM is seeking a motivated, energetic, and personable early career professional with interest in vulnerability assessments, climate risk economics, climate scenario analysis, risk assessment and infrastructure engineering. Opportunities beyond the previous list may also be possible. This position has tremendous growth and career development potential for a passionate and experienced climate specialist. **Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:** + Conduct coastal, future conditions (climate change) and resilience analyses and apply visualization and climate scenario tools for project evaluation and capital improvement plan and implementation plan development. + Evaluate return on investment of infrastructure investments. + Collect, analyze, and interpret data from maps, tools and models. + Research innovative adaptation strategies and risk reduction strategies. + Write technical reports, research papers and presentation materials. + Manage individual tasks and small projects while also working collaboratively as part of a team for larger or multi-disciplinary projects. **Basic Qualifications:** + Coursework in Civil, Coastal Engineering, Land Use Planning, Economics, or Computer Engineering or relevant area of study required. + Working knowledge of climate scenario tools and climate change projections. + Working knowledge of climate adaptation and emissions mitigation strategies. + Demonstrated strength in written and verbal communication skills suitable to a consulting environment. + Demonstrated ability to fluently communicate in spoken and written English. + Have a passion for working in a consulting firm environment on various types of projects. + Willingness to travel in support of business and project activities. **ABOUT APTIM** APTIM is committed to accelerating the transition toward a clean and efficient energy economy, building a sustainable future for our communities and natural world, and creating a more inclusive and equitable environment that celebrates the diversity of our communities.
