Climate and Resilience EM Tech Lead Project Manager

Who You Are:

Versar Global Solutions is seeking a Climate and Resilience Technical Lead Project Manager to assist in executing our growing portfolio of climate work primarily for the Department of Defense (DoD) and more specifically the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps.  The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience supporting federal and military organizations, leading climate and resilience focused consulting projects, applying best practice resilience planning concepts and solutions (particularly Nature Based Solutions), and leading teams in highly innovative, cross-functional teams.

This position is situated within our Environmental Management (EM) Market Sector and will require working collaboratively with other technical areas within EM as well as our Applied Professional and Technology Solutions Business Area (APTS), which provides geospatial and data solutions for a variety of federal and commercial customers.   

What You’ll Do:

Climate Technical Lead

Provide solutions-based leadership and subject matter expertise to high level experts in the federal government, DoD and beyond.Lead a technical team, including subcontractors, in the assessment and development of plans and specifications for adaptation measures including, but not limited to a blend of gray and green infrastructure, flood mitigation, climate resilience, and ecological stream restoration projects. Lead efforts to apply and implement (and possibly help to develop and update) policies, requirements, and instructions related to climate adaptation and resilience in the federal government and DoD.Direct and ensure technical excellence in executing vulnerability assessments, climate adaptation alternatives development, predictive modeling, resilience planning, and ecologically focused restoration projects primarily for Navy/Marine Corps clients but also other DoD entities, SLED, and commercial clients.Ensure project deliverables are produced on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards by tracking, monitoring, and managing program/project progress, financials, schedules, and deliverables.Proactively identify potential technical issues and lead development of mitigation strategies.Provide mentorship in the climate space to technical staff.Lead responses to successful white papers and proposals.

Project Manager

Excellent communication skills, as well as strong conceptual, organizational, problem solving and research abilities. Ability to work collaboratively with team members and clients and show demonstrated expertise in managing several complex tasks simultaneously.Management of multidisciplinary, geographically diverse teamsDevelopment and management of project budgets and schedules.  Ability to track financial performance including monthly revenue forecasting and estimate at completion. Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel including report formatting and production of technical reports and proposals.  Detail-oriented, organized, and team player with a strong focus on quality and customer service.

Climate Leader - Marketing, Public Representation, and Client Development

Assist in identification, pursuit, and capture of climate and resilience opportunities resulting in organic growth year over year.Foster strong customer relationships and nurture strategic partnerships.Maintain high professional visibility by participating in professional organizations, conferences, and seminars.

What You’ll Bring:

Command of Navy and Marine Corps guidance, processes, frameworks, and internal workings is ideal. Other federal and military experience, at least, is strongly desired.Expertise working in the resilience and climate adaptation space for the DoD.Proven project management experience - ability to manage teams and execute projects within scope/schedule/budget and see through to completion.Bandwidth to engage with multiple stakeholders to assess climate constraints in the context of mission and develop frameworks for assessing mitigation.An understanding of weather, and risks associated with meteorological forecasting is a plus.  Exceptional relationship building and management skills to establish rapport, trust and confidence with both the customer and in-house operational teams.Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to operate in a dynamic organization and adapt to changing environments.Energetic, enthusiastic, organized, and self-motivated.Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.   Business travel is required.

Education/Professional Credentials: 

Bachelor’s degree in ecology, environmental engineering, sustainability, climate change science, planning, environmental science, or a related degree. Advanced degree preferred.8+ years’ experience developing and executing solutions in the climate and resilience markets for the DoD.Successful results of preemployment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screenComply with company drug and alcohol policy.Be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate’s start date.

Location Requirements

The position’s Primary work location is flexible with office, hybrid, or telework options. A home base in the Middle Atlantic is preferred but not required.

Compensation 

Expected Salary: $80,000 per year
