Climate Resilience Business Development Intern

Role description:

Arcadis seeks a motivated and detail-oriented graduate-level intern to join our Water Management, Urban and Coastal Resiliency Team in San Francisco starting in March 2025. 

With support from an experienced and multidisciplinary team, this role will contribute to a growing portfolio of projects addressing climate resilience and adaptation planning, business development, and project funding. The intern will engage with private, state, and local government clients, gaining exposure to strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and innovative climate solutions.

Role accountabilities:

Support climate resilience initiatives through stakeholder engagement, business process mapping, workshop facilitation, and solution development. 

Conduct research and data analysis on climate adaptation trends and funding opportunities to inform business strategies and decision-making. 

Draft grant applications, project proposals, and client-facing materials, including polished PowerPoint presentations, meeting notes, and other professional documents. 

Track and manage funding opportunities, including grants and Requests for Proposals (RFPs), ensuring timely submissions and accurate documentation. 

Identify potential partnerships and contribute to the development of business strategies and proposals. 

Manage multiple tasks and deadlines, delivering high-quality results while maintaining efficiency and organization. 

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications: 

Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a master’s degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration (MBA), Environmental Science, Sustainability, Public Policy, Urban Planning, or a related discipline. 

Demonstrated interest in climate resilience, urban planning, or business development. 

 Preferred Qualifications: 

Knowledge of market research, strategic planning, or grant development. 

Familiarity with climate resilience frameworks, sustainability strategies, or community engagement initiatives. 

Previous internship or work experience in business development, consulting, climate adaptation, or a related field.

These benefits include medical, dental, and vision, EAP,  401K, STD, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, reward & recognition program and optional benefits including wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance and tuition reimbursement.  We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $21.30 - $37.50 / hour.  Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
