Overview Clinical Resource Nurse, Pulmonary-Complex Medical Unit Full Time, 72 Hours Per Pay Period, Day shift Fort Sanders Regional Overview: Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center is an award-winning, certified, and accredited facility with 541 beds. As a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, Fort Sanders offers state-of-the art care that maximizes recovery from stroke. We are also the region’s leader in technology in areas such as bariatric surgery, robotic surgery and minimally invasive spine surgery. Our door-to-balloon times for heart attack patients are below the national average, and our hip fracture center offers advanced diagnosis, surgery and recovery procedures for hip patients. Department Description: In our Complex Medical Unit, we have 34 private patient rooms. We are located on the seventh floor in the North tower of the main hospital. The Complex Medical Unit is comprised of a wide variety of medically complex patients. Many of our patients are acutely ill and require a higher level of care than your average medical floor, but do not meet the need to be in a stepdown/ICU unit. Patients can include: + Respiratory (BiPAP, High-Flow oxygen, chest tubes) + Sepsis + Endocrine + Cardiac (non-titrated cardiac drip, heparin drip) + GI (dobhoff tubes, NG tubes) + GU (catheters, bladder irrigation) + Nephrology and dialysis patients + Post-operative and Wounds (wound vac, various wound dressing and management) + Oncology (pleurx catheters, ports) We have a supportive and close working relationship with our physicians. Position Summary: The Clinical Resource Nurse is a registered professional nurse who demonstrates expertise in a specific area of clinical nursing. A selected patient population is the focus of practice. The CRN position is based on the needs of the patient and the health care system, and the expertise of the CRN. The CRN, in collaboration with the Nurse Manager, is a resource agent in pursuit of improved nursing practice and improved patient outcomes, focusing on the novice and intermediate level RNs. Recruiter: Lacey Spoon || lspoon2@covhlth.com || 865-374-5404 Responsibilities + Provides a clinical practice resource to enhance quality in collaboration with patient, family, and health care team to produce optimal patient outcomes. + Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of standards of care and standards of practice. + Identifies needs, plans and works with Manager and Educator on implementing educational programs within specialty area for staff, patients, and/or community. + Supports staff nurse advancement in collaboration with the unit manager in the clinical ladder process through consultation, education, and encouragement. + Participates in the quality improvement activities. + Collaborates with nursing and other health care professionals in the establishment of goals and implementation of the plan of care for all clinical cases. + Serves in a consultative role to staff (assessment, identification of problem, plan, and follow-up). + Takes patient assignments as necessary to meet patient needs. + Plans and implements a program for continuing self- development. + Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested. + Perform other related services as assigned or requested. Qualifications Minimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority. Minimum Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of overall professional-level Nursing experience; minimum of three (3) years in Labor and Delivery setting.
