Job Description SummaryThe Registered Nurse – NeuroSpine:  Uses the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care provided to individuals in neurosurgical care (e.g., ICU, CVICU, CCU, floor).  Actively accepts, understands, and practices appropriate standards of neurosurgical nursing.  Actively supports the mission, vision, and values of the hospital and department.  Performs various activities related to the needs of neurosurgical patients in accordance with the hospital’s established policies and procedures to include the following age groups: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.  Performs daily rounds using the nursing process to care for inpatient neurosurgical patients to include: patient care, family planning, discharge summaries.  Perform post-operative wound care in ambulatory clinic setting.  Actively support physicians by taking 1:3 day and/or night call for the NeuroSpine service.
Job DescriptionQUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Current RN license in the state

LANGUAGE/ COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Must be able to read, write, and speak English

SKILLS:

Successful course completion in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Successful course completion in Basic Cardiac Life Support Successful course completion of institutional Critical Care Course Successful course completion of institutional Intermediate EKG Course Successful completion of Intra-aortic Balloon Pump ( IABP) Certification course (CCU and CVICU) Experience in operating personal computers, including operation of computer software in a Windows environment (preferred).
