Clinical Abstract-Cl Data Abstract & Registration
Overview This position will support the abstracting of data for the Pediatric Heart service line. Position will work closely with physican leadership and provide scorecards/dashboard as requested. Strong candidate will possess ability to build relationships and rapport, willingness to upskill their abilities within data management, and strong experience navigating EMRs and data management applications. Analyzes clinical documentation and abstracts clinical data used to capture patient health statuses, assessment of quality of care, health data comparison between providers and organizations, and/or to meet regulatory standards using prescribed protocols and entering into appropriate database systems. Subject matter expert that advises and educates internal customers on clinical abstraction and registry data that aligns with regulatory requirements through an understanding of clinical expertise of data and information. Provides expert knowledge and skills related to system regulations and regulatory reporting as evidenced by assessments or reports. Responsibilities Job Description Completes data collection per system and regulatory protocol. Applies regulatory and registry abstraction guidelines utilizing clinical experience for accurate and timely data abstraction. Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards. Completes validation checks once the data is entered. Demonstrates applicability of the methodology and the reliability of definitions utilized by reviewers through Inter-Rater Reliability (IRR) testing. Collaborates with leadership and stakeholders across the system to transform data and information into knowledge that will assist leaders in making informed decisions that support strategic initiatives. Works with stakeholders and staff to improve documentation issues/discrepancies and provide feedback on documentation. Leverages data abstraction and registries to drive quality improvement efforts and reduce variation. Provides data, information and education regarding opportunities for improvement and compliance with regards to clinical practice and processes across the system. Responsible for identifying areas for streamlining and process improvement in the data collection process. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Associates degree in Nursing, Paramedic or similar field in healthcare. Detail oriented Data entry Experience in current role or a healthcare setting Two or more years working in a healthcare setting with direct patient care Technical skills with experience using Windows and Microsoft applications Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare field, science field or similar. Three or more years working in a healthcare setting with direct patient care. Three or more years working in the areas of abstraction/registry, data/information analytics and/or information management.
