Clinical Assessment Research Assistant

Research Assistant

Main purpose of the job:  

The role will involve a wide range of activities including, but not limited to: working with the Research Manager and wider R&D Team on the recruitment of a normative population sample; recruitment of psychology and allied health professionals as examiners for the standardisation phase of projects and managing their project-related data collection activities; ongoing project database management; and general administrative support related to research projects. 

Main activities/responsibilities:  

Support standardisation projects in the development of key Pearson Clinical products. This will focus on recruitment and management of the project samples. 

Support the provision of training and management of examiners involved in standardisation projects. 

Manage administrative tasks associated with standardisation projects. 

Manage and regularly maintain project databases to a high standard for the duration of the project. 

Active involvement in the recruitment of standardisation samples 

Conduct regular updates for project team on key performance indicators for standardisation projects. 

Contribute to the Research and Development team towards product improvement and development through the sharing of ideas or insights.  

Support the implementation of current best practice in developing Psychology assessment products and comply with the BPS code of conduct. 

Continuously develop own skills and knowledge and keep abreast of developments within the area of product development in assessment and other areas as required.   

Administer assessments for standardisation projects (after full training) as needed. 

Essential qualifications and experiences: 

Educated to first degree in Psychology or another related subject with specialty in psychometrics or educational assessment 

Desirable Experience: 

Experience working on research projects involving data collection, participant recruitment, and management of data sample 

Experience in the area of the use and/or development of psychometric instruments and assessment tools. 

Key Competencies: 

Good organisational, planning and time management skills 

Conscientious and committed to delivering high quality work 

Able to solve problems and create successful solutions 

Knowledge of Psychometric testing 

Good working knowledge of statistics, including the use of SPSS and Excel 

Knowledge of project management methodology an asset but not essential 

Knowledge of psychometric principles 

Able to build and maintain strong working relationships 

Self-motivated and able to work independently 

Work environment:  

Hybrid working (remote/office) available with ability to work from Pearson offices in Oxford UK, with occasional use of London office 80 Strand. 

Able to travel to UK destinations for work purposes on occasion as needed (not central to the role).
