This position is a full-time, non-tenure track position, with a three-year appointment period. Minimum Qualifications Applicants must hold a master’s degree from an accredited university in CLS , MS in Education, orMSHS. Applicants must hold an appropriate nationally recognized ASCP certification as a medical laboratory scientist or medical technologist. Good communication skills and the ability to teach laboratory and lecture courses is required. For consideration at theclinical associate level, the candidate must have held the rank of clinical assistant professor for at least 6 years prior. For consideration at theclinical professor level, the candidate must hold a doctoral degree in anyMLS subject area and have documented evidence of federally funded research grants or publications within the last 10 years. Discipline Specific Required Qualifications Applicants must have at least 3 years of clinical and/or teaching experience which enables them to teach in at least two major areas of the curriculum. Applicant must hold a nationally recognizedASCP certification as a medical laboratory scientist or medical technologist. Preferred Qualifications Experience in online course delivery and distance education. Knowledge of accreditation requirements, clinical experience and professionalism, mentoring and familiarity with multicultural environments. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program ( ORP ) instead of TRS , subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
