Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Belk College of Business at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applications for a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor position in the department of BISOM . The candidate must have a good understanding of management information systems ( MIS ). A background in business analytics, including in programming languages such as R and Python, will be considered a plus. Prior teaching experience in MIS , Business Analytics, or related areas is also desirable.
The teaching load consists of four courses per semester, which may include undergraduate or graduate courses in MIS , Business Analytics, and the interdisciplinary Masters in Data Science and Business Analytics. In addition to teaching, the candidate will be expected to engage in research and professional activities appropriate for the rank and to the extent required to meet the College’s Faculty Qualification Standards for Clinical faculty. The candidate will also be expected to engage in appropriate service activities in the Department, the College and the University.

Teaching, Advising, Curriculum and Instructional Development – Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, advising and consultation, directing student research, curriculum and instructional development, and grading student work.
Scholarly Research, Creative, and Other Professional Activities – Clinical faculty are expected to participate in research appropriate for their rank, with an emphasis on generating new knowledge or synthesizing/integrating existing knowledge. The level of research involvement will be in line with the College’s Faculty Qualification Standards for Clinical Faculty.
Service to University, the Public, and the Profession – Clinical faculty are expected to engage in service activities appropriate to their discipline, including service to the administration and governance of the University, public service, and service to the profession.
Minimum Experience / Education:
UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
The Department is particularly interested in candidates whose academic backgrounds and professional qualifications span MIS and BA. Candidates must have a good understanding of the use of information systems. A background in programming languages such as R and Python will be considered a plus. Prior teaching experience in one or more of these areas is preferred. Other desired requirements include an ability to contribute to the strategic initiatives of the department, college and university.
Candidates for this position must hold either a Ph.D. or Doctorate in Information Systems or a closely related field from an accredited program and must meet professional and/or academic qualifications as defined in the Belk College Policy on Academic & Professional Qualifications.
This is a full-time non-tenure track position with an initial three-year contract and a competitive salary.
