CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide expert nursing care to a specific patient population through individual assessment, evaluation and monitoring of treatment in multiple units. Coordinate and assess the nursing care given to adult and pediatric trauma/burn patients throughout the continuum of care through discharge and return to the community. Design, monitor and evaluate nursing care programs and individualized patient care plans. Actively involved in the ongoing development & implementation and revision of standards of care Provide liaison and consultation in the area of clinical expertise to members of the health care team in multiple units, services and disciplines. Attend Ambulatory Care Surgery nurse staff meetings or keep current on ACS practice Attends and participates in weekly multidisciplinary inpatient and discharge rounds and wound rounds, Trauma Conference. Document patient care and progress and maintain detailed patient and practice records. Design, develop and maintain patient education programs. Initiate and participate in designing and conducting conferences and in-service programs for staff and students. Maintain current knowledge of wound care modalities and education of clinic staff on such. Participate in the development and maintenance of clinical area quality assurance programs and activities including membership of the Burn Quality of Care Committee and participation in the Trauma QCC as requested. Investigate, identify and assess present critical criteria for maintaining Level 1 re-verification. Participate in research studies that enhance the quality of care provided by the UMHS Trauma Burn Program. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Directly responsible to the Clinical Nursing Director of TBC under the direction of the Trauma Program Administrative Team. SUPERVISION EXERCISED Functional supervision of the TBE Clinic including RN, PA, LPN, MA, Clerical Staff and resident staff in the absence of attending staff. Collaborative relationship with hospital wide nurse managers, clinical nurse specialists, care coordinators, and the TBC multidisciplinary team. **Nursing Specific Info** Salary & Nursing Framework Level: This UMPNC RN posting is posted under the Role-Specific Advancement Model (RSAM) as: ENC- COMPETENT. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan is necessary. Three or more years of nursing experience as a R.N. is necessary. Independently directed individual with demonstrated communication, patient education and project development skills. Experience in the care of burn and complex wound care.
