Job Overview:

The Medical -Surgical Unit-II CCT provides care in the health care system within the scope of practice regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics. The Technician assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for his/her own professional advancement. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors. Responsible for knowledge of the patient population served. Communicates effectively and collaborates with nurses and other patient care providers. The Technician works as an individual practitioner and interdisciplinary team member integrating all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient s needs. Other essential duties as required.

Qualifications:

Required:

High School DiplomaBLS Certification through American Heart Association onlyAbility to read, write, and speak EnglishEffective communication skills and basic math skillsSuccessful completion of all Orientation Programs

Preferred:

Previous Nursing Assistant experience and/or successful completion of two Registered Nurse accredited clinical courses and/or completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program

Certifications and Licenses:

High School graduate or equivalent (GED). Satisfactory completion of the Clinical Care Partner Skill Program or successful passing of the Clinical Care Partner Skills Challenge Examination on orientation. Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English. Prior knowledge of medical terminology and ED Technician experience preferred. Current American heart Association CPR/BLS required. Medical assistant certification, EMT certification or previous experience required.

Scheduling Requirements:

NightsEvery other weekend required, schedule during the week will vary depending on department needsPer Diem2 Week Mandatory Orientation

Essential Functions:

Participates in assessment of patient needs and communication with the health care teamParticipates in staff, patient and/or family education to a degree consistent with personal knowledge baseParticipates in unit Quality Improvement activities Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient s age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care
