*Clinical Chemistry Postdoctoral Fellowship Position – University of Maryland School of Medicine* *Program Description:* The Department of Pathology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) offers a*two- to three- year clinical chemistry fellowship that is*accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Clinical Chemistry (ComACC). Our fellowship offers comprehensive training to prepare trainees for medical directorships, in various areas of laboratory sections, such general clinical chemistry, urinalysis, coagulation, hematology, endocrinology, toxicology, therapeutic drug monitoring, molecular diagnostics, and point-of-care testing. Fellows will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic clinical laboratory environment, working closely with our experienced faculty and staff. Fellows will gain comprehensive training through rotations in diverse laboratory environments, engaging in both practical and theoretical aspects of laboratory medicine. The program emphasizes: * *Clinical Service*: Active participation in daily laboratory operations and patient care consultations. * *Research*: Opportunities for method development, translational research, and scholarly publications. * *Education*: Involvement in teaching medical students, residents, and laboratory personnel. * *Management*: Development of leadership skills in laboratory administration and quality management. Fellows are expected to prepare and present cases and findings at several departmental and multidisciplinary conferences. They are encouraged to present research findings at national meetings and publish their work in relevant peer-reviewed journals. Upon completion, fellows are encouraged to achieve*Diplomate status with the American Board of Clinical Chemistry (ABCC)*, fulfilling certification requirements appropriate for directing a high-complexity laboratory. *Application Procedure* Interested applicants should submit the following materials: 1. *Letter of Interest*: o A personal statement outlining your qualifications, career objectives, and interest in clinical chemistry (maximum 2 pages). 2. *Curriculum Vitae (CV)*: o Detailed educational background, research experience, publications, and relevant laboratory experience. Additional materials (Upon Request): 1. *Transcripts*: o Copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts. 1. *Letters of Recommendation:* o Three letters of reference from individuals familiar with your academic and research abilities. *Application Deadline*: February 28th, 2025 *Prerequisites* Applicants must meet the following requirements: 1. *Educational Qualifications*: o Earned a*doctoral or medical degree*(Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent) in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, medicine, pathology, pathobiology, pharmacology, or related life sciences from an accredited university. o Completed a minimum of*28 semester hours*(undergraduate or graduate level) in general, analytical, organic, physical, and biochemistry courses to qualify for ABCC certification.
