Clinical Child Psychologist – Early PsychosisLocation: Zalik Clinic, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Brookhaven, GA
Children’s Behavioral and Mental Health Center is undergoing rapid growth and transformation. We are working to innovate the mental health care system for children in Georgia and are recruiting dedicated and experienced team members who are eager to join this mission.
Children’s is seeking a Clinical Psychologist with experience in serving youth to age 21 years experiencing serious mental illness with psychosis. The psychologist will work within the outpatient CLEAR Clinic to provide access to interdisciplinary treatment meeting the mental health needs of children and teens who experience first episode psychosis or clinical high risk for psychosis. The CLEAR Clinic aims to provide pharmacotherapy, individual psychotherapy, caregiver training, and case management for patients recently discharged from an acute psychiatric care setting (emergency department or inpatient psychiatric unit), referred from the Children’s system, or identified within the general Behavioral Mental Health Outpatient Clinic. Appointments are primarily in-person.
Psychologists work closely with child and adolescent psychiatrists, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, behavioral and mental health therapists (LCSWs and LPCs), social workers, and nurse case managers to develop and implement a comprehensive care plan for each patient.
Psychologists participate in the training of psychology doctoral interns and postdoctoral fellows as well other behavioral mental health trainees. Opportunity for program development is possible. Candidates with a strong background in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis, Family-Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Psychosis preferred.
This is a part-time position, with split between direct clinical care and administrative time. Opportunities for a full-time position exist. Applicants should have a Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an APA/CPA accredited program and must have completed an APA accredited child internship. Additionally, applicants must have expertise in treating children and adolescents using evidence-based treatment approaches. This position is open to both early career and experienced psychologists. Applicants should be licensed or licensed-eligible in Georgia prior to employment and must obtain board certification within hospital timelines. Children’s strives to meet the healthcare needs of all patients, regardless of their socioeconomic status and insurance coverage.
