JOB SUMMARY:
Provides on site daily operational supervision to Cardiac cath lab staff to assure quality and efficient service. Essential Functions & Accountabilities
Provides first hand oversight to assure care is provided in the Cardiovascular Laboratories in a safe and competent manner meeting all regulatory, professional, safety and system standards. Manages staff and processes to assure smooth, efficient and timely flow of all procedures and services. Monitors staffing patterns to assure coverage is maintained where needed. Ensures that all schedules are met; works to effectively develop adequate staffing.Collaborates with interventional physicians and surgeons to measure and assure optimal clinical outcomes and achievement of targeted inpatient and outpatient satisfaction scores.Supervises care and maintenance of equipment, assuring safe operating conditions and all University of Maryland Medical Center policies are met.Oversees the maintenance of department records, daily logs, inventory and documentation to meet all regulatory guidelines.Assures that adequate supplies and equipment are available to staff through effective inventory and supply management.Ensures accuracy in charge processes.Assists the Manager of Invasive Cardiology to conduct staff meetings on at least a monthly basis and encourages staff participation and involvement in departmental activities. Utilizes strategies that provide for staff recognition and reinforcement of ideas to improve patient care and cost reduction.Works collaboratively with physician medical director; meets regularly and applies effective problem resolution skills in a timely manner; documents activities in appropriate format such as meeting minutes, action plans, etc.Maintains positive working relationships and open communications with all physicians as measured by physician feedback.Assists in the development of standards and policies needed to meet or exceed all regulatory, professional, ethical and legal standards.Actively assists in the department performance improvement process; assures coordination of departmental programs in accordance with all hospital-wide PI program and national standards as applicable. Insures data collection, assessment and reports are completed and submitted as required.Maintains a just culture within the department and promotes an environment of positivity and emotional safety.All other duties as assigned, within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
Provides input to the Manager/Director for:
a. Staff performance appraisals
b. Recommendations for personnel actions including hiring, salary adjustments, promotions and disciplinary actions
c. Annual budget preparation
d. Establishing future goals and objectives
e. Equipment purchase decisions
Prepares work schedule to assure coverage for all services provided.Assists with the orientation of new staff.Serves as a resource for clinical problems. Assists with care and maintenance of diagnostic equipment and suppliesf.. Assures adequate inventory.

QualificationsMINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
Bachelors Degree or Higher in NursingMinimum of four years of Clinical Cath/EP Lab related experienceCertification in ACLS.Demonstrates knowledge of the principle of growth and development and possesses the ability to respond to specific issues and data reflective of the patient’s status.Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide for the primary population of patients served in the department.The employee in this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on the age of the patients served.He/she must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status, to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the necessary care as described in the department’s policies and procedures.Additional Information.
