Full time Clinical Coordinator
The Clinical Coordinator provides expert professional nursing guidance related to staff training in assessments, care plans, implementations and competency evaluations. Participates in placement of quality clinical staff responsible for patient care, knowledge of basic nursing principles, ethics and practices. Works closely with management of the multiple departments and demonstrates ability to solve problems.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He/she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.
Provide guidance for clinical staff and care of patients within the assigned clinical areas; maintain economical and efficient departments.Plan for and evaluate total nursing care; identify nursing problems and take corrective action.Responsible for implementation of clinical departments within new practices. Develop program to measure proficiency and competency for all MAs, LMRs and Nurses.Serve as an expert in Laboratory implementations and manage the regulatory requirements, equipment and inventory control.Serve as market resource for CPR training and monitor adherence to training requirements.Monitor schedules and coverage.Maintain effective staffing for the department; coordinate float and replacement personnel coverage with Managers; ensure all clinical personnel are aware of cross coverage assignments in a timely manner.Coordinate initial and on-going training of clinical personnel in accordance with BMA protocol and policies to ensure staff is knowledgeable and competent.Assist as part of the interview team when hiring new clinical staff employees.Recommend operating and profit improvements; utilize and/or develop efficient purchasing practices and clinical supply inventory control.Train as a “super user” in the clinical processes in order to assist with training and offer advice for workflow processes in nursing and patient care areas.Ensure O2 tanks, suction machines, defibrillators/AED’s and any other emergency equipment are checked routinely and maintained.Contribute to an objective performance appraisal for the clinical staff within required time frame.Inform doctors and employees of new product availability.Conduct regular clinical staff meetings; maintain record of attendance.Ensure all department activities reflect BMA standards for quality by monitoring staff performance and patient satisfaction. Identify deficiencies, evaluate and implement any necessary corrective action.Attend any required or regularly management scheduled meetings (i.e., Monthly Manager’s Meeting), contributing ideas for improved efficiency, productivity and patient satisfaction; communicate information to all nursing staff within responsible departments.Recommend, implement and monitor clinical policies; ensure that policies are followed appropriately.organization’s business plans; monitor expenses monthly.Identifies opportunities for quality and process improvement that will contribute to meeting individual departments’ goals and objectives.Participate in the CQI process (PDCA) to help develop and implement a process improvement plan.Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required
Formal training that will be indicated by a graduation certificate from an accredited RN school of nursingCurrent State RN licensurePrevious supervisory experience in a health-care setting and/or experience in clinic-based nursing; CPR, BLS and ACLS certificationProficiency in more than two technical operating environments.
