Clinical Coordinator (US School)

Position Summary:

Provides education and supervision for diagnostic medical sonography students, consistent with the profession’s established standards of both didactic and/or clinical instruction. Performs duties, in support of the Medical Center mission, to ensure the highest quality of patient care in a sound and efficient manner. This position serves all age groups. 

Instrumental in the development and implementation of curriculum, program goals, clinical objectives, and clinical evaluation system.

Coordinates clinical education with didactic education, as assigned by the program director; implementing and assisting in clinical rotations, allowing students to achieve course objectives

Coordinates and maintains student clinical records; responsibilities of which may be designated to additional school faculty, by the program director

Meets regularly with program faculty to maintain current documentation of students’ clinical progress and communicate areas of strengths and weaknesses

Facilitates and may appropriately assign direct and indirect supervision levels, in the clinical setting

Facilitates and provides appropriate and adequate clinical instruction for students

Facilitates and may provide clinical competency and test evaluations, for each student assigned to the clinical site, in conjunction with designated preceptors and clinical instructors

Evaluates clinical education effectiveness, through a schedule of regular, clinical visits and correspondence with the sites; school faculty may assist.

May assume didactic responsibilities, submitting course outlines, lesson plans and timetables consistent with curriculum goals, for each course assigned, by the program director

 Participates in student recruitment or marketing processes, as requested

Maintains confidentiality in accordance with program policy.

Participates in continuing education to improve evaluation skills and maintain professional competency 

 

 

Education and Training:    

 Bachelor’s Degree Required 

 Experience and Knowledge:

 At least one college-level instructional/educational course is required.  Must document the equivalent of six years, full-time (35 hours per week), professional experience in general sonography

Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Minimum of one year, full-time experience as a clinical instructor, didactic instructor, or clinical preceptor 


 Registration, Licensure and/or Certification:  

Active “RDMS” credentials from the American registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography in specialty areas of both Abdomen and Ob/Gyn required,   Vascular credentialing (RVT) is also preferred 
 

Skills:  

 Evaluate and ensure the effectiveness of clinical sites.

Demonstrate proficiency in:  - Teaching methodology, student supervision, instruction, evaluation, and student guidance - Abdomen and ob/gyn scanning - Vascular scanning for carotids and venous duplex
