CLINICAL DIETITIAN

Position: Clinical Dietitian
Department: MFMUG South
Shift: 7:30AM-5PM
Status: Full-time/ 72 hours per pay period
Facility: Miami Valley South requires travel to other sites
The Clinical Dietitian- Works closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide inpatient care that is integrated and compatible with the patient-focused medical goals and objectives. The clinical dietitian uses the Scope of Dietetics Practice Framework (SODPF) to determine scope of practice, established Standards of Practice and Professional Performance (SOP/SOPP) in nutrition care and practice-specific dietetics, and, as available, evidence-based practice protocols/nutrition practice guidelines to help determine nutrition intervention(s).
The Clinical Dietitian–Performs business and supervisory functions, such as management of resources in a cost-effective manner, and participates in compliance and quality performance improvement efforts to ensure that nutrition care is safe and effective.
The Clinical Dietitian–Also may be involved in community-based nutrition programs, and maintains professional competency and skills required for professional practice
**Education**
**Minimum Level of Education Required:** Bachelor's degree
**Additional requirements:**
**Type of degree** : dietetics, foods and nutrition, or related area, granted by a U.S. regionally accredited college or university
**Area of study or major** : Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics(ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
**Licensure/Certification/Registration**
Ohio Licensed, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist
Applicants that are registration eligible, with a limited permit to practice dietetics in the State of Ohio may be hired with the expectation of passing the registration exam and obtaining an Ohio license within 90 days of hire.
**Experience**
**Minimum Level of Experience Required:** No prior job-related work experience
**Preferred** **experience:** Experience in a clinical setting preferred
**Knowledge/Skills**
+ Knowledge of the Nutrition Care Process and ability to apply all steps of the process.
+ Comprehensive knowledge and application of nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy.
+ Critical thinking to integrate facts, informed opinions, active listening, and observations.
+ Decision making, problem solving, and collaboration.
+ Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form to patients, public, hospital and medical staff, and physicians
+ Ability to function independently on assigned patient care units.
+ Ability to counsel and educate others.
+ General knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing, and spreadsheet software
