Overview M Health Fairview is seeking a Clinical Dietitian for a full time, virtual position! This position offers full time hours and is benefit eligible on day shift! This is a fully virtual position with the UMMC Comprehensive Weight Management Program. The dietitian will work in close collaboration with two other bariatric dietitians and the rest of the bariatric team including surgeons, nurses, nurse practitioners, care coordinators, etc. Summary: The Clinical Dietitian coordinates the provision of medical nutrition therapy with other members of the health care team. The Clinical Dietitian identifies patients at nutrition risk, assesses nutrition needs according to age and disease specific requirements and develops, and implements and supervises the nutrition care plan and outcomes of intervention. The Clinical Dietitian provides nutrition education to patient, families, health care professionals and the community. Responsibilities include support of the nutrition care delivery system, precepting of dietetic interns/students and participation in performance improvement and research activities. Responsibilities Job Description Develops a patient-centered and individualized nutrition intervention based on a nutrition assessment that accounts for age, culture, social considerations, readiness to change, and other relevant needs Monitors and evaluates the nutrition intervention, revising as needed to promote positive health outcomes Documents clearly and concisely in alignment with organizational and/or regulatory policies and procedures Orders supplements, diets, nutrition therapy and other pertinent items according to the Medical Nutrition Therapy Protocol Policy Advocates for evidence-based nutrition practices through collaboration with patient, family, and other healthcare professionals Provides an education session or in-service at least annually to colleagues, such as dietitians, other clinicians, or patient nutrition services team Supports the dietetic internship through all the following: precepting interns 10 days per calendar year participating in the intern recruitment process instructing an intern class Supports team and organization through two administrative duties as assigned by CNM such as running team meetings, completing chart audits, organizing system competencies, serving as safety captain, representing clinical nutrition in system committees, or other duties as assigned Publishes an abstract or article in a peer-review journal or presents at a professional conference at least once every five years Provides care according to organizational ethics, Code of Ethics for profession of dietetics, licensure, and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) Standards of Professional Practice (SOPP) for dietetic professionals. Practices in alignment with system policies/procedures, practice guidelines, medical nutrition therapy protocols, and Joint Commission standards. Commits to professional development through participation in proficiencies and seeking additional continuing education opportunities that align with organizational needs and/or professional interests Efficiently uses resources as personnel, monies, equipment, electronic systems, and time in the provision of nutritional care. Organization Expectations, as applicable: Demonstrates ability to deliver care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served Partners with patient care giver in care/decision making. Communicates in a respective manner. Ensures a safe, secure environment. Individualizes plan of care to meet patient needs. Modifies clinical interventions based on population served. Provides patient education based on as assessment of learning needs of patient/care giver. Fulfills all organizational requirements Completes all required learning relevant to the role Follows all relevant laws, regulation and policies Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications License/Certification/Registration Registered Dietitian through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) If not already registered, must be registered eligible and achieve registration within 60 days of hire Licensed Dietitian through the Minnesota Board of Dietetics and Nutrition Practice If licensed outside the state of Minnesota, must have receipt of licensure within 30 days of hire.
