**The role you’ll contribute:**
**The Clinical Documentation Educator** serves the AdventHealth Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) department system-wide. Develops, assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates procedures and processes for the system, offers continuing education, process improvement, and change management. Is actively involved in future planning and strategic development for system CDI needs, to include policy development, program development, ongoing audits for the system level and campus level, and quality improvement efforts. Works under general supervision and utilizes critical thinking skills. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
**The value you’ll bring to the team:**
+ Develops, produces, and delivers training for CDI specialists on an ongoing basis. This includes monthly New Hire CDI training, CDI Preceptor Program, and on an as needed basis for current employees in the CDI Department.
+ Audits new CDI members during their 90-day probationary period. Presents written and verbal updates to the CDI Managers and the CDI Director. Provides additional education based on results of audit and provides input for the 90 Day Evaluation.
+ Audits 10% of reconciled and non-reconciled cases for each campus on a monthly basis for the following scorecards: CDI Campus, CDI System, and AHS-Corporate.
+ Maintains CDI website by reviewing and updating content on a regular basis. This includes but is not limited to CDI regulatory information.
+ Reviews and revises CDI Policies and Job Descriptions annually, or as needed.
+ Identifies resources in the community and coordinates education opportunities for CDI staff including webinars and continuing education.
+ Assist the Director and CDI Leadership team in the development of Physician and Allied Health provider education.
+ Acts as the SME (Subject Matter Expert) for Clinical Documentation for Quality related projects.
+ Acts as the SME for Clinical Documentation between leadership, staff members of Quality departments, Revenue Cycle, and other interdisciplinary team members at all applicable levels of leadership, and external partners. Communicates appropriately and effectively with all involved parties.
+ Manages, develops and coaches the second level CDI Documentation Quality Reviewers (DQR), and preceptors for the CDI Department.
+ Performs staff evaluations, promoting longevity of the program, providing feedback and conflict resolution to the CDI team.
Qualifications
**The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed** **:**
+ 5 acute clinical experience Required
+ Experience in Clinical Documentation Improvement and Acute Care Required
+ RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Current valid State of Florida or multi state license Upon Hire Required
+ Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) Required
+ Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred
+ Master's Degree in Nursing Education (MSN) or related health care related field Preferred
+ Experience educating in a healthcare or Clinical Documentation Improvement setting Preferred
+ Excellent communication techniques in oral and written form
+ Knowledge of computers including basic skills in Windows and Outlook
+ Ability to present to management, staff, and business partners
+ Comfortable in a complex and changing healthcare environment
+ Knowledge of medical record investigative review
+ Knowledge of specific AdventHealth computer-based programs and CDI specific computer-based programs. (such as CDMP Guide, Sunport, and Cerner)
+ Familiarity with Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services Programs
+ Ability to read, interpret, and strategize future projects, bringing future state to reality
+ Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) accredited by HCPRO or Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist Upon Hire Preferred
