Clinical Documentation Specialist - Part time

Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDS Nurse)

Part time position, 20 hours per week. There is flexibility of the scheduling of those weekly hours.

Job Responsibilities

Performs extensive medical record review through the use of CDI software integrated with EMR Facilitates documentation improvement by participating in committee meetings  Assist in coordination of clinical documentation improvement consistent with corporate compliance guidelines and appropriate financial reimbursement Provide education to providers, nurses and other CDI staff

Required Job Specific Competencies

Working knowledge of federal and state regulations Ensures the integrity of the clinical documentation support medical necessity, diagnosis related groups (DRG) and quality of care Ability to work independently, prioritize and practice capable and effective problem identification and resolution Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with diverse disciplines

Qualifications/Experience

Licensed RN or equivalent or higher education in health related field Minimum 5 years inpatient clinical experience Extensive knowledge of complex disease processes Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDS) or Clinical Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP within three years of starting the role Epic experience preferred Proficiency with computers, spreadsheets and Microsoft office

Education

BS in Nursing preferred (or obtained within 5 years of hire) OR college graduate in other health related field

Position Pay Range: $35.00-45.00/hour

Starting Pay: Based on experience
