**Position Overview:**
Works closely with the manager to assess, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate clinical staff educational programs in response to health care demands, trends, identified learning needs, department goals, quality improvement measures, risk management, regulatory changes, and compliance criteria. Oversees, coordinates, and provides classroom/online training to enhance skill level of the unit, including department orientation, skills assessment programs, and in-services, as needed, to certify staff competencies. Creates new programs and modifies existing curriculum/training materials to ensure classes are relevant and responsive to advances in technology, new equipment, changes in regulations, and adjustments in corporate needs. Develops and revises policies and procedures as well as assists in the maintenance of educational and competency records to meet regulatory and the Joint Commission standards (TJC).
**Job Description** :
**JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:**
• Assesses educational needs through daily contacts, meetings, work groups, attendance at state or national educational programs, and utilization of formal and informal assessment tools, then prepares and conducts development and training programs to meet identified needs.
• Teaches and coordinates multiple educational programs, course offerings, and multi-site cross trainings using written and visual aids for classroom and online training sessions.
• Routinely reviews and updates teaching materials, job aids, and presentations to reflect new information (technology advances, new/updated equipment, hospital or department initiatives, regulatory changes in healthcare legislation, or new products/services), integrate comments from class evaluation forms, incorporate patient feedback, address employee’s needs, and achieve cultural diversity while realizing department goals and objectives.
• Ensures the implementation of new or revised department standards, procedures and programs through communication, educational activities, coaching and role modeling.
• Builds collaborative working relationships with peers, agency staff, nursing staff, physicians, students, other ancillary department members, management, and patients.
TRAINING.
+ Participates in the development, implementation, and delivery of current education offerings (skill modules, self-study series, audio-visual aides, etc.) that meet staff and/or patient needs, which may include such topics as:
+ Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
+ Basic Life Support (BLS)
+ Routinely reviews and updates teaching materials and presentation(s) to reflect new information, integrate comments from class evaluation forms, incorporate patient’s feedback, address student’s employee needs, and achieve diversity (age appropriate, culturally sensitive, etc.) while realizing department goals and objectives.
+ Implements educational programs and classes using learning modalities that maximize resources while maintaining participant interest.
+ Presents training feedback to new hire’s supervisor, collaborates to develop corrective action plan, and delivers proof of training to Human Resources (HR) and certification/licensing agency per established compliance procedures.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT.
+ Creates well designed, engaging presentations in collaboration with clinical educators.
+ Runs and maintains the department website, ensuring programming and content meet Sutter Health’s, the department’s and legal requirements.
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT.
+ Works collaboratively to develop and implement new programs, classes, and educational materials based on learning needs assessments, class evaluations, technical advancements, organizational priorities, and other informational sources.
+ Assists in the development and revision of training materials to accurately reflect changes in organizational guidelines, procedures, protocols, and local/state/federal regulations related to patient care.
+ Participates and facilitates the development, implementation, and dissemination of new policies, procedures, products, programs, documentation forms, and any planned changes in clinical practice protocols.
+ May function as a resource to medical assistant and externs.
+ Pursues professional development through continuing education and adult learning principles.
COMPLIANCE.
+ Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of on-going clinical competency, including providing assessments, classroom or in-service instruction, on-site follow-up, and support.
+ Partner with departments to check, monitor, and resolve safety and regulatory issues, in addition to developing corrective action plans to minimize or eliminate future occurrences.
+ Complies with all laws and regulations that govern the healthcare industry and adheres to the principles of evidence-based practice for quality patient care.
+ Maintains professional certification/competency in the area of expertise, while building expertise and knowledge.
+ Maintains records of competency, training, licensure, and/or certifications according to hospital Department of Health Services (DHS) or ambulatory Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Healthcare (AAAHC) accreditation standards and The Joint Commission (TJC) standards.
+ Collaborates with teams, resources, and data to improve performance elements of patient care and ensure the department’s quality of service.
**EDUCATION:**
HS Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
MAs: successful completion of an accredited medical assistant program
**CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:**
CMA-Certified Medical Assistant
OR LVN-Licensed Vocational Nurse
OR RMA-Registered Medical Assistant
BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
**DEPARTMENT REQUIRED CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE**
Department, Imaging: BLS only
**TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:**
2 years recent relevant experience.
**SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:**
Demonstrated proficiency in adult teaching/learning theories and program assessment, program design, promotion and marketing implementation and evaluation processes.
Good understanding of current regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs), Medical Assistants (MAs), and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) have general knowledge of scope of practice and evidence-based practice.
Exceptional attention to detail with time management and organization skills with the ability to work with a high degree of initiative and independence to meet deadlines and implement projects effectively.
Possesses written and public speaking skills, including the ability to clearly and professionally explain medical, technical, or sensitive information to diverse audiences.
Advanced knowledge of word processing, presentation, and email software, such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook, and a working understanding of Microsoft SharePoint, Adobe Captivate, HealthStream and Epic, and an aptitude for learning new programs.
Prioritize routine and priority tasks within defined policies, procedures, and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines; help determine appropriate approach for new assignments.
Use experience and existing precedents or procedures to resolve atypical or infrequent problems; provide informal guidance and support to junior team members.
Coordinate efforts with others, including interdisciplinary groups, with direct lines of authority.
Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).
Work independently as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
Develop collaborative relationships with various groups internally and externally, including clinical and support staff, other departments, management, Sutter Health Clinical Nurse Educators, college staff, and regulatory agencies to coordinate educational needs and ensure compliancy.
Prioritize and delegate assignments under varied and urgent conditions and work within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
Identify and solve complex problems based on the analysis of multiple sources of information while providing new perspectives on existing solutions.

Pay Range is $44.76 to $53.70 / hour
_The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
