Clinical Educator/Nurse Residency Site Coordinator
Overview

Promotes excellence, as a frontline nurse leader, in clinical nursing care and contributes to the professional growth and development of nursing staff through clinical education and professional development activities in support of the CHI Health Nursing Strategic Plan and Vision. Responsible for collaboratively implementing education initiatives and priorities as established by CHI Health nursing division and campus leadership. Acts as change agent and mentor while promoting interdisciplinary teamwork and evidence based practice and teaching. Assists nursing staff and profession in acquisition of skills, knowledge and competencies through needs assessment and development of implementation plan for programs.

Dual Exempt Role of Clinical Nurse Educator and Nurse Residency Site Coordinator

Clinical Educator

Assesses, researches, coordinates/facilitates, implements, and evaluates educational and professional development programs, services and systems as established by CHI Health nursing division and/or campus leadership. Acts as role model, clinical nursing expert, change agent, mentor, and leader to the campus and CHI Health nursing division. Serves as a consultant for organizational, divisional, and system initiatives and program development as related to nursing practice. Actively seeks out evidence based practice and findings and applies to clinical excellence and education. Provides clinical expertise and leadership to quality improvement initiatives. Coordinates and facilitates nursing transitions to practice and ongoing professional development through support of central onboarding, clinical orientation, nurse residency, fellowships, competency assessment, and preceptor and mentor programs. Contributes to the development and maintenance of educational tools and resources, integrating adult learning theories, organizational development principles and system approach. Other duties as assigned by leadership.

Nurse Residency Site Coordinator

In collaboration with the Nurse Residency Supervisor, maintains program standards, structure, curriculum, policy and processes that support resident progression, program sustainability and nurse retention. In collaboration with the Nurse Residency Supervisor, responsible for the planning, implementation, evaluation, and revision of program standards, structure, curriculum, policy and processes for the programFacilitates Nurse Residency Program classes as outlined by the Nurse Residency Supervisor and Clinical Nurse Educators.Implements standards for measurable, realistic program outcomes with timelines and accountabilities for the Nurse Residency Program.Partners with site leadership to ensure processes and structures are deployed consistently to guarantee expectations for performance are established and accountability is maintained.Develops and supports site faculty, subject matter experts, residents and local leadership.Ensures principles of CommonSpirit Health’s mission, nursing vision, values, DEIB, PEX, and professional development are delivered within the Nurse Residency Program.Ensures that ongoing assessments of resident and preceptor’s knowledge, skills, and practice gaps are performed.Ensures a consistent, principle-driven brand for the Nurse Residency Program at the site level.Transfers acquired knowledge to site leaders and supports the achievement of Nurse Residency Program outcomes.Supports the organizational strategic vision for National Nurse Residency.Collaborates with the Nurse Residency Supervisor and other system nurse residency leaders to align the program to clinical education and professional development initiatives, advanced practice fellowships, and other system initiatives.Champion high quality nursing practice and promote interprofessional collaboration.Other duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications

BSN required. Master’s Degree in Nursing or completion of MSN program within 5 years of start date.

Active RN licensure in the state of Nebraska, Iowa, or nurse licensure compact. 

Basic life support is required upon hire.  Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Heart Association:  Basic Life Support.

Nursing education experience demonstrating progressive experience in the development and implementation of clinical education programs.

Minimum three years relevant nursing experience. Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written).

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Knowledge and application of advanced nursing skills.

Ability to critically think in complex situations.
