As a Clinical Engagement Program Coordinator, you will be leading teams to drive excellent patient care. This position plays a pivotal role in engaging and leading diverse and wide-ranging teams in driving transformational change within Banner and its entirety. It requires the focused application of deep knowledge, skills, tools, techniques, and strong leadership. The Clinical Engagement Program Director partners with Banner’s senior clinical, operational, and executive leaders through Clinical Consensus Groups to develop highly effective patient care and safety initiatives that create the best possible outcomes for the patients we serve.
Working closely with Chief Medical Officers and Chief Nursing Officers, this position leads, develops and drives the purpose, direction, and status of multi-year clinical initiatives in a program. Utilizing the define, design, and implement methodology, this position ensures that enterprise, facility, and division metrics are achieved across multiple disciplines. The scope includes all areas of care delivery such as: acute, ambulatory, post-acute, etc. This person also acts as a sounding board for ideas and approaches to solving clinical and operational issues that directly impact organizational performance. As one of Banner’s thought leaders, this individual will contribute to the development of all Banner Health’s clinical, operational, and business units with an emphasis on current strategic areas of focus.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Co-leads enterprise-wide Annual Initiatives with Chief Medical Officers, Chief Nursing Officers and other physician & nursing executives to identify and establish strategic clinical opportunities. Develops and implements processes for highly effective care, and to ensure patient safety. Collaborates with clinical leaders to solve complex problems facing clinical care within Banner. Leads enterprise teams and meets with system, facility, and division leadership to develop action planning to drive performance improvements throughout the year.
2. Establishes system-level clinical process improvement to ensure patient safety. Supports a culture of change, ensures evidence-based standard outcomes, achievement of clinical improvement goals, and effective integration into operations. Leads successful implementations of clinical activities across a diverse set of operating entities and disciplines, ensuring differences of scales and scope across the organization.
3. Unites others in purpose, supporting key clinical initiatives, both individually and in a group setting. This involves articulating the new possibility for others, leads and engages others in direct, positive, meaningful conversations. Resolves disputes and produce an agreement, that is perceived as a collective advantage to all parties involved. Tailor the process, behavior, and substance of the negotiation to reach agreement.
4. Works with clinical leadership to identify technology gaps, integrate new solutions into existing systems and opportunities in the electronic health record to ensure utilization, clinical efficiencies, reduction in clinician burnout and improved patient throughput.
5. Directs a large portfolio of work for the enterprise Clinical Consensus Groups through incorporating organizational strategies, performance improvement opportunities and other organizational focus areas along with evidence-based clinical research.
6. Manages system-wide resources and prioritizes the efforts of Banner’s clinical practices. Leads the process of define, design and implementation of the project life cycle for clinical process improvement teams. Ensures any regulatory, compliance and accrediting body requirements are met. Oversees the phases of improvement on clinical practices, policies and order sets using project management methodologies.
7. Promotes, builds, and maintains effective collegial relationships with internal and external stakeholders at an executive level. Facilitates the development of strategies across multiple disciplines/domains. Ensures and navigates a high level of collaboration across the system to develop partnerships, coordinate activities, review work, exchange information, and/or resolve problems.
8. Governs the utilization of established clinical practices, policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a strong business and project management knowledge and/or healthcare as normally obtained through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration or related field.
Must demonstrate a strong clinical/science background as normally demonstrated with seven years of experience in a progressively responsible capacity or an equivalent combination of relevant education, business, technical and healthcare experience. Must have a high tolerance for ambiguity and ability to manage and facilitate large-scale, high-profile projects and plans in a complex and fast-paced healthcare setting. This includes demonstrated ability to identify and resolve complex problems through innovative solutions. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills as well as team building skills required to lead, influence and motivate others at all levels in the organization as well as other community physicians.
Must demonstrate strong personal computer skills including extensive experience with office desktop applications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration or related field.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
