Clinical Engineering Service Specialist Senior

Provides advanced level equipment service and support through repairs, preventive and general maintenance, quality assurance inspections, installation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting on one or more categories of specialized biomedical, oncology, diagnostic imaging equipment, laboratory and other related technologies. Assists with, oversees and evaluates work performed by other service specialists, as well as external vendor service providers, conducting at least 70% of work without vendor assistance.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Responds to requests for maintenance services from any of the member hospitals and/or affiliates of the McLaren Healthcare Corporation; performs initial assessment, problem verification, troubleshooting and repairs, Conducting at least 70% of work without vendor support. Completes the preventive maintenance (PM) workload for assigned equipment to achieve a required PM compliance within pre-established time frames. Follows written preventive maintenance and quality assurance testing procedures for assigned medical equipment. Performs scheduled PM during normal hours, after hours and/or on weekends as required. Leads and/or assists with work performed by other service specialist staff as well as services provided by external service providers at any MHC system hospital or external site. Performs repairs on defective or malfunctioning equipment on assigned specialty equipment, and on general types of clinical patient care equipment used throughout the organization. Prioritizes service calls and unscheduled maintenance or repairs while ensuring responses are within acceptable guidelines and timeframes as required by the user department/unit. Reviews service reports and approves invoices related to services performed on assigned devices and systems. Identifies and obtains parts, supplies and other technical resource materials required to service, maintain, test and repair assigned equipment and determines the course of action needed to cost-effectively maximize equipment up-time.Qualifications:
Required:
Associate degree in electronics or biomedical engineering, or equivalent military training or 2 years’ experience in technical service repair and maintenance pertaining to the specific equipment requiring high levels of technical support. Ten years hands-on experience performing direct repair and maintenance on both general and model specific equipment in one or more of the following specialized fields: Diagnostic Imaging Equipment: includes general radiographic; fluoroscopic; special procedures; ultrasound; gamma camera; MRI; CT (computed tomography) systems and other systems specific to radiology, cardiac catheterization, nuclear medicine or ultrasound. Radiation Therapy/Oncology Equipment: includes linear accelerators; simulators; stereotactic systems; treatment planning systems; and other systems specific to radiation oncology. Analytical/Diagnostic Equipment: clinical laboratory analyzers; assigned clinical departments and/or specific, one of a kind clinical support system. Sterilization/Surgical/Dialysis Specialty Devices: includes steam and ETO sterilizers; hand instruments; lasers; robotic surgical systems; heart/lung bypass systems.Preferred:
