The cover letter should address your specific interest in the position and outline skills and experience that directly relate to this position. **Job Summary** The Michigan Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons Quality Collaborative is a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) and Blue Care Network (BCN) Collaborative Quality Initiative (CQI) dedicated to improving the care of adult cardiac and general thoracic surgery patients in Michigan. The Quality Collaborative is a consortium of hospitals that collaborate to promote and share optimal processes of care and implement quality improvement initiatives based on regional and national data as well as clinical research and evidence based cardiac and thoracic surgery practice and guidelines. We are currently seeking a highly organized and experienced individual who will serve as a Quality Improvement Coordinator for our Coordinating Center located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Quality Improvement Coordinator will have a primary appointment in the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Michigan and will report directly to the Michigan Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Quality Collaborative (MSTCVS QC) Program Manager and be housed in the MSTCVS QC Coordinating Center. **Mission Statement** Michigan Medicine improves the health of patients, populations and communities through excellence in education, patient care, community service, research and technology development, and through leadership activities in Michigan, nationally and internationally. Our mission is guided by our Strategic Principles and has three critical components; patient care, education and research that together enhance our contribution to society. **Responsibilities*** The MSTCVS QC Quality Improvement Coordinator will play an important role in coordinating and overseeing projects aimed at enhancing the quality of cardiothoracic surgery outcomes in the state of Michigan. This position involves planning, executing, and closing projects within defined timelines. We are seeking an ideal candidate proficient in leading multidisciplinary teams while ensuring effective communication and collaboration to meet deliverables. This role requires strong organization skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to evolving project requirements. Additionally, the role entails making independent decisions within the defined scope of responsibilities. Other responsibilities include, but are not restricted to: + Develop, execute, and monitor project plans, scope, goals, timelines, and resources required, adjusting as needed to ensure successful project completion. + Identify and mitigate project barriers, proactively addressing issues to prevent delays or deviations from project goals and deliverables. + Foster a collaborative and positive team environment, promoting effective communication and knowledge-sharing. + Conduct post-project reviews, analyzing success and areas for improvement, and applying lessons learned to future projects. + Communicate project progress, challenges, and successes to the MSTCVS QC Program Directors, Program Manager, and other stakeholders. + Support projects spanning various registries and projects within the MSTCVS QC including general thoracic and adult cardiac surgery, and structural heart procedures. **Required Qualifications*** + Bachelor's degree in nursing or related healthcare field with a focus on cardiothoracic surgery. + At least 5-8 years of experience in analyzing and interpreting process, clinical outcomes and costs of care. + Previous experience in project management or quality improvement. + Ability to interpret and communicate data from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons National Adult Cardiac and General Thoracic Databases. + Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. + Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously. + Problem-solving mindset and ability to adapt to changing project requirements. + Effective communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating collaboration among stakeholders. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language. + Strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. **Modes of Work** Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.
