Clinical Informatics Specialist

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Applications and Informatics, , the Clinical Informatics Specialist position supports the core functions of the enterprise clinical applications and systems to enable cost-effective, high quality, efficient, and safe patient care. The Clinical Informatics Specialist assists providers and clinical staff with design, implementation, workflow optimization, support, maintenance, and issue resolution related to our clinical applications and systems as assigned.

                                                                           PRINCIPLE FUNCTIONS include the following, other duties may be assigned:

 

Uses clinical knowledge of patient care & combines with informatics concepts as collaborating with healthcare professionals on clinical applications, systems, and solutions to facilitate quality driven, accurate and efficient design / build.

 

Conducts assessments of current workflow(s) and enhances, creates, and optimizes workflow solution(s) that are compliant with government regulations, and / or evidenced based practice that improves clinical workflow efficiencies, documentation quality, and improves patient safety.

 

Facilitate or lead design sessions that promote overall team consensus and collaboration across all affected business units to optimize, develop, design, build and implement application and system changes that are integrated solutions for WhidbeyHealth and minimizes overall patient & organizational risks.

 

Build clinical content within clinical information applications and systems to match desired & approved design.

 

Test new clinical content build changes, and vendor updates and upgrades to ensure and verify error free and applicable integration with other business units / systems.

 

Provide new employee clinical applications and systems education and at the shoulder support as needed during regular clinical rounds.

 

Provide and use problem solving techniques to troubleshoot application, system, and clinical workflow issues, escalating issues appropriately and in a timely manner.

 

Ensure EHR compliance with regulatory requirements related to Health IT (e.g. 21st Century Cures Act, Promoting Interoperability, MIPS).

 

Performs EHR system takedown and restore procedures as needed for server maintenance and updates.

 

Routinely reviews, updates and provides change control in EHR vendor’s customer service application

 

Participate in the development and enforcement of IT / clinical informatics policies and procedures.

 

Participate in departmental on-call rotation schedule.

JOB KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Graduate of a school of professional nursing required. BSN and / or degree in Informatics preferred.                                               

Training and Experience

3 years of clinical experience in nursing with 2 years clinical informatics experience required.

Informatics or Health IT certification (e.g. NI-BC, CPHIMS, or CAHIMS) is preferred. Candidates should be prepared to obtain certification within 24 months of employment if not already certified.

Wage Range: $83,500 - $120,000
