Position Summary
The Clinical Informatics Specialist is a key member of the Department of Clinical Informatics, reporting directly to the Chief Clinical Informatics Officer. This role combines project management expertise with educational leadership to advance the organization's clinical informatics initiatives across both clinical and non-clinical domains. The position focuses on three core areas: project development and management, informatics support and education, and strategic leadership and communication. Working collaboratively across the healthcare system, this role requires strong analytical skills, healthcare technology expertise, and the ability to bridge clinical and technical perspectives to drive operational excellence. This role is inclusive of information systems utilized within the healthcare system.
Minimum Requirements
Education
Masters in Health Informatics (Healthcare, Medical, Nursing, etc.)Experience
3+ years of relevant clinical experience working in healthcare setting 3+ years of experience in EHR training, healthcare IT, or informaticsLicense/Registration/Certifications* - can be obtained during first 90 days of onboarding*
Epic Training Environment Certification Certified in at least one Epic applicationPreferred Requirements
Preferred Education
Clinical background (RN, PharmD, MD, or similar) Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certificationPreferred Experience

Project Development & Management Manages Clinical Informatics projects as determined by the CCIO Facilitate ideation sessions and workshops to generate new solutions for clinical and operational challenges Evaluate and assess potential project ideas for feasibility, resource requirements, and alignment with organizational goals Guide projects through ideation to formal project initiation, maintaining a pipeline of potential initiatives Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and resource allocation strategies Lead cross-functional team collaboration between informatics teams, operational & clinical staff, IT personnel, and external vendors Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies Create and maintain project documentation, including RACI matrices, SBARs, status reports, and outcome measurements Design and implement post-project monitoring frameworks to track KPIs and utilization metrics Collaborate with project engineers and project managers across the healthcare system to ensure coordinated execution Informatics Support & Education Provide subject matter expertise in clinical informatics methodologies and best practices Promotes principles of informatics to support workflow assessments across healthcare system (clinical and non-clinical areas) Collaborate with other members of Clinical Informatics (Physician Leadership, Training & Optimization, & Nursing Informatics) as needed to identify solutions that reduce problematic workflows, improve efficiency, and enhance patient care. Assist with coordination of system updates between IT, Clinical Informatics, and Operations. Collaborate with technical teams to ensure system configurations align with clinical needs Support departmental needs to evaluate new healthcare technologies and assess their potential impact on clinical operations Support the development, implementation, and measurement of clinical decision support tools Offers consultative services regarding informatics principles at operational leader’s request Design and deliver educational programs and workshops as requested by departmental leadership; focus may include EHR optimization, clinical decision support, informatics methodologies, and reporting and analytics tools that emphasize data-driven decision making Executes technical build in MST (master training environment) for proposed solutions and troubleshooting as needed Create and maintain educational resources for ongoing reference and knowledge management Assess educational needs/evaluate program effectiveness through feedback and outcomes analysis Serves as an informatics expert/designee on external projects when requested by CCIO Leadership & Communication Serve as a key liaison between Clinical Informatics and stakeholders across the organization, including attending IT project meetings and facilitating interdepartmental communication Drive strategic initiatives through effective presentation of project updates, educational outcomes, and recommendations to leadership Foster team development through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and guidance on informatics methodologies and best practices Contribute to organizational growth through participation in strategic planning, goal setting, and relationship building with key stakeholders Other duties as assigned
