Position Summary:

The Clinical Informatics Team Lead – Ambulatory Clinics is responsible for leading and supporting clinical informatics efforts across outpatient settings within the health system. This role focuses on optimizing electronic health record (EHR) use, aligning clinical workflows, and ensuring system-wide standardization across primary care, specialty clinics, and other ambulatory services.

Working collaboratively with providers, clinic staff, operational leaders, and IT teams, the Team Lead plays a key role in implementing best practices, improving documentation efficiency, supporting quality initiatives, and enhancing the clinician experience within the outpatient environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Mentor and support ambulatory clinical informaticists and clinic super users, fostering engagement and continuous learning.

 

Serve as the primary liaison between ambulatory clinical staff and IT/informatics leadership for clinic-based initiatives.

 

Partner with ambulatory care leaders across various specialties to align clinical documentation, with system-wide standards.

 

Facilitate the standardization of workflows across outpatient clinics to support consistency, quality improvement, and compliance with regulatory standards.

 

Support go-lives, system upgrades, and optimization projects tailored to ambulatory workflows (e.g., visit documentation, scheduling, messaging, patient portals).

 

Identify and address EHR usability issues and advocate for improvements that enhance clinical efficiency and provider satisfaction.

 

Collaborate with quality and population health teams to support data capture, reporting, and performance monitoring for key metrics (e.g., HEDIS, UDS, ACO measures).

 

Support training, onboarding, and education efforts for clinicians related to informatics onboarding,  initiatives and system changes.

 

Participate in assigned committees and workgroups related to clinical systems and practice alignment

 

Participate in on-call Informatics rotation

 

Qualifications:

Required:

5+ years of experience in a ambulatory / Outpatient Clinic setting.

2+ years of experience in clinical informatics, with leadership or team coordination responsibilities.

Proven experience with electronic health record system management. 

Proven ability to lead change, improve documentation workflows and collaborate with cross-functional teams. 

Strong understanding of clinical workflows and hospital operations.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.

Preferred:

Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Pharmacy, Allied Health, Health Informatics, or related field.

Clinical licensure (LPN, RN, NP, PA).

Certification in informatics (e.g., ANCC Informatics Nursing, HIMSS CPHIMS).
