Clinical Information Science Summer Intern

We are seeking three undergraduate junior or masters-level students majoring in Computer Science, Data Science​, or a related field for a 12-Week Student Intern role in Gaithersburg, MD for a May 19th - August 8th contract period.

Objectives/Goals of the Position:

​Understanding published oncology clinical data.Learning and applying Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Generative AI techniques to extract relevant information across Oncology Tumor Types and Mechanisms of Action (MoA).Developing innovative solutions/tools to enhance automation.

Primary Duties:

Apply and enhance existing ML/NLP models.Assist in building applications using ontologies.Explore new methodologies, including Generative AI, to enhance automation and visualizationAdditional responsibilities will include collaborating with a cross functional team and presenting in team meetings.

Position Requirements:

Undergraduate junior or masters-level students majoring in Computer Science, Data Science ​, or a related field. **Candidates must have an expected graduation date after August 2025.Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, R script).Experience with visualization tools (e.g., Spotfire, Power BI).Familiarity with or willingness to learn NLP techniques and tools.Familiarity with or willingness to learn Generative AI models (e.g., GPT, BERT). Enthusiasm for collaboration, cross-functional projects, public speaking, and presentation design.US Work Authorization is required at time of application.This role will not be providing CPT/OPT support.Ability to report onsite to Gaithersburg, MD five days a week. This role will not provide relocation assistance.Minimum grade point average of 3.0.
