Job Overview:
The Clinical Instructor/Nursing Professional Development Practitioner provides for orientation, in-service training, and continuing education. Develops, implements, and validates initial and ongoing competencies alongside department leadership. Responsible for participating in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of education and training for hospital associates. Demonstrates effective teaching skills through appropriate instructional methodologies. Applies principles of adult learning theory when conducting programs. Facilitates professional role development and practice role transitions, including the RN Residency Program and Nursing Students. Educates and mentors nursing staff on quality improvement and evidence-based practice. Organizes multiple assignments and/or projects simultaneously to accomplish goals. Visible and accessible to clinical staff. Additional duties and responsibilities as delegated within NPD Scope and Standards of Practice. Role requires flexibility, adaptability, and independent prioritization of responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Required:

Graduate from an accredited school or universityMaster's Degree Education, Nursing and/or Health Related Field or post-master's certificate in educationFive years in acute care clinical servicesSuccessful completion of all Orientation Programs

Preferred:

Two years in professional development/education2 years in professional development/education preferredNursing specialty certification preferredNPD-BC (Nursing Professional Development Certificate) preferred

Certifications and Licenses Required:

Current Registered Nurse License in the state of New JerseyBasic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

Full-TimeDay shiftMonday FridayBetween 6a - 4:30p (depending on the unit needs)Must be flexible to work possible evenings37.5 hrs. weeklyTravel throughout RWJBH possible
