$62.333 - $80.429 - $98.526

**What You Will Do**
Provides the technical knowledge, expertise and professional judgment required to support the mission of Sharp HealthCare (SHC) and scope of laboratory services. Responsible for the leadership, administration, financial, personnel development, materials management, and regulatory compliance of an entity. Responsible for the coordination of technical functions, general organization, and daily operations of the laboratory, including microbiology, chemistry, hematology, blood bank and anatomic pathology. Accountable for planning, directing and coordinating the operations of laboratory operations for a single entity and system integration for operational functions, patient care delivery, and promotion of the service line.
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree Medical Technology or equivalent.
+ 5 Years Regulatory, Accreditation and Quality Systems Experience.
+ 8 Years Clinical experience in relevant areas of responsibility.
+ California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Generalist license - CA Department of Public Health -REQUIRED

**Essential Functions**
+ Key ResponsibilitiesDevelops and enhances laboratory services through collaboration with patient care and support services providing results relative to the diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of disease.Facilitates consistent and uniform laboratory services for optimal patient care.Follows Sharp and department safety policies and procedures regarding one’s personal protection and patient safety and provides safe working environment for patients, visitors, and staff.Generates department operational statistical data for administration and finance.Coordinates and assumes responsibility for department operations and staff utilization and development.Adheres to state and regulatory agency licensure and accreditation.Continually improves customer service perception.Ensures self and employee performs duties with particular regard to specific age group or population specific needs, including Americans with Disability Act (ADA) requirements.Continually develops professional and technical skills.Completes required on-going education modules and training programs.Assumes 24-hour responsibility and accountability for the laboratory.Executes priorities to ensure implementation of operation plan within the work unit/units.Promotes employee accountability and empowerment through formal and informal mechanisms.In-depth working knowledge of Laboratory Department operations and policies.Ability to effectively manage activities and employees of the laboratory department; to exercise mature and sound judgment in the commitment of hospital services with appropriate weight given to humanitarian and economic aspects of such services.Ability to analyze and interpret data and prepare concise, accurate reports.
+ QualityMaintains JCAHO, CAP, and CA State and other regulatory agency accreditation or licensure with minimal noncompliance of minor deficiencies.Continually identifies and resolves operational issues and develop action plans to provide consistent high-quality service to all customers.Demonstrates quantifiable improvement in department-based indicators or outcomes to achieve zero defects and zero harm.Accomplishes department’s business plan objectives and develops quarterly goals.Actively participates in the Sharp System Laboratory Leadership meetings where system-wide policies and procedures are drafted, modified, standardized and reviewed to ensure regulatory compliance.
+ SafetyCollaborates with managers, directors, supervisors and senior specialists to decrease occurrences of unsafe work practices and/or worker’s injuries as part of Sharp’s HRO initiatives.Works collaboratively with lab leadership to meet and maintain the goals for survey responses including Culture of Safety and Employee Engagement surveys in order to measure Sharp’s progress towards becoming a HRO for employee and patient safety.Ad-hoc member of the hospital Quality Council.
+ ServiceCreates and provides an exceptional experience for all customers:· Rounds daily on employees and physicians to build relationships.· Harvest wins for reward/recognition.· Identify process improvement areas, and repair and monitor systems.· Rounds on nursing departments and patients regularly to identify lab-related accomplishments and needs, resolve service deficiencies, and establish supportive working relationships.· Achieves and maintains hospital goal targets related to patient, employee and physician satisfaction.Develops and implements employees’ customer service programs.Leads action team in problem solving and innovating to improve customer satisfaction.Develops new area of expertise in the area of service competency.
+ PeopleProvides appropriate staffing and skill mix for optimal department function.Uses formal and informal means to communicate all pertinent information to employees and Sharp leadership.Maintains employee records to ensure compliance.Assists employees in accessing services from Human Resources and Employee Assistant Program.Conducts performance appraisals on time and provides tools/training to meet/exceed established performance goal.Develops and implements communication plan to assure employee communication is timely and effective using closed loop communication and SBAR.Performs Just Culture evaluation and correction action steps as appropriate.Leads groups in developing and implementing strategic plan to implement organization vision and/or service-culture initiatives.Mentors employees in developing new skills and assuming new responsibilities.Increases retention rate (or reduces turnover) of select group of employees.Provides career path training and opportunities for career advancement of the laboratory employees.
+ FinanceManages operational and capital budget within targets to meet the organizational strategic plan.Achieves and maintains Productivity aggregate score of 100%.Variable or total expense per UOS meets/exceeds budget.Generates solutions for volume/revenue growth and reducing costs.Successfully prepares for the annual operational and capital budget process.Prepares cost benefit analysis of new or existing programs, services, or variances in practice.Decreases costs of unsafe work practices/and or worker’s injuries.
