Responsible for supporting laboratory-based scientific investigations by carrying out routine technical tasks and experiments. Works with laboratory equipment to analyze samples or substances, conducts tests on those samples or substances, and creates reports on their findings.


Principal Accountabilities:


1. Collects, receives, labels, and/or analyzes samples or substances using the correct testing equipment, when necessary.
2. Designs and executes laboratory testing in line with standard testing procedures, recording observations, and interpreting findings.
3. Records all experimental data and test results accurately and in the specified format (written and/or electronic).
4. Organizes and stores all chemical substances, fluids, and compressed gases according to safety instructions.
5. Ensures that safety guidelines are adhered to at all times within the laboratory.
6. Maintains daily logs and equipment record books.
7. Cleans, sterilizes, maintains and calibrates laboratory equipment.
8. Orders laboratory supplies, as needed.
9. Provides technical support, when necessary.
10. Keeps up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
