Invitae, now part of Labcorp, is seeking a Clinical Lab Technician to join its team in San Francisco, CA.  Under supervision of licensed personnel, this role will support diagnostic testing on patient specimens using a variety of molecular assays and platforms. The position requires to work on-site work at our San Francisco location, with flexibility to work overtime and on off-schedule days as needed.  This is a great entry level opportunity to join an innovative laboratory and receive training that will help the individual grow in a career in the molecular diagnostics field.

The schedule for this position will be: 1st shift: Tuesday-Saturday, 7am-3:30pm.

Responsibilities:

Assist licensed CLS personnel who are performing clinical test protocols using established procedures (in accordance with state regulations)Identify any issues that may adversely affect the quality of test results and escalates these to appropriate representatives to ensure prompt resolutionIdentify, prioritize, and prepare all clinical samples while ensuring viability and sample integrity throughout the test processMaintain inventory and organization of specimen samples in the freezerPrepare and label tubes and plates according to established protocolsPrepare clinical samples for testing and identify sample related issuesAssist coordinating documentationMonitor and maintain consumable inventory including reagents and supplies for each of the laboratory workstationsPerform general laboratory, equipment, and benchtop clean-upPrepare logs or other documents for routine testing or special assignmentsAdhere to quality control guidelines to ensure integrity of laboratory specimensUnder the direct supervision of a licensed CLS, dispense pre-made and prequalified reagents/controls using a pre-programmed fixed volume measuring devicesProvide laboratory support in the maintenance and surface decontamination of general laboratory equipmentMaintain a safe work environment and wears appropriate personal protective equipmentParticipate in continuing education credits

Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in Biology, Chemistry or similar scientific fieldPrevious laboratory experiences a plusUnderstanding and familiarity with aseptic techniques and good specimen handlingStrong computer skills,  Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel is beneficialExperience with SOPs, QA and QC standardsMust have good organizational skills and strong oral and written communication skillsAbility to work in collaborative, flexible work environmentAbility to work flexible hours, during trainingMust be able to pass a standardized color vision screen

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience with molecular biology techniques (such as nucleic acid extraction and NGS) is highly desiredPrevious experience in a high-volume clinical laboratory environment is preferredPrevious experience using liquid-handlers is preferred

**Pay Range: $28.39 - $50.00 per hour
