Clinical Laboratory, Animal Medicine Intern
**Description** Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Clinical Laboratory Animal Medicine Summer Intern to join our Animal Resources – Nonclinical Drug Safety department located at our Ridgefield, CT facility. As an Intern, you will engage with the many aspects of an animal care and use program, including clinical and preventative medicine, study support and pathology, training, regulations, and administration, in both GLP and non-GLP environments. Our competitive compensation and benefit programs reflect Boehringer Ingelheim´s high regard for ouremployees. **Duties & Responsibilities** + Participate in the provision of clinical, surgical, & preventative medical care to various animal species, including non-human primates + Participate in acclimation, positive reinforcement, and training techniques for various animal species + Engage in training activities for animal handlers + Shadow GLP and non-GLP study support activities + Expand knowledge in husbandry, biology, and diseases of relevant species + Complete a mentored, hypothesis-driven research project for formal presentation at the conclusion of the internship period **Requirements** + Must be Professional Student, enrolled in an AVMA-accredited veterinary college in good academic standing. + Student must be enrolled at a college or university for the duration of the internship + Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferred + Major or minor in related field of internship + Undergraduate students must have completed at least 12 credit hours at current college or university + Graduate and Advanced Degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or university **Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:** + Completion of at least one year of didactic training at an AVMA-accredited veterinary college + Previous experience working with animals in a research setting + Basic understanding of the scientific method + Ability to work independently **Compensation Data** This position offers an hourly rate of $20.00 - $33.00 USD / hr. commensurate to the level of degree program in which an applicant is actively enrolled.
