Contract Type Classified Hourly If other, please specify Recruitment Type Open Position Details General Statement The Phlebotomist position in the clinical laboratory of Medical Services, part of the department of Student Health Services within the division of Student Success. Duties and Responsibilities Performs essential laboratory procedures. Verifies laboratory test requests. Confirms patient identification. Collects blood specimens through venipuncture. Monitors glucose levels via point-of-care testing. Collects throat and nasopharyngeal specimens. Performs COVID specimen collections. Instructs patients on proper sample collection techniques. May also perform waived laboratory testing as needed. Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Phlebotomy experience, including proficiency in venipuncture. Ability to work efficiently in a busy healthcare environment. Strong attention to detail and sound judgment. Professional demeanor and strong communication skills. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and privacy guidelines. Ability to follow safety standards and maintain a healthy work environment. Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Experience working in a college health or similar outpatient setting. Experience with point-of-care testing and specimen collection procedures (e.g., nasopharyngeal swabs, throat swabs). Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems and laboratory information systems. Certification in Phlebotomy or other relevant laboratory skills. Experience performing waived laboratory testing. The Successful Candidate Will Proven phlebotomy experience. Demonstrates excellent attention to detail. Possess the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Maintains a professional demeanor at all times, following safety and privacy guidelines. Collaborates effectively with the healthcare team.
