Day in the Life of a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor

Supervise personnel, adjust priorities, and oversee employee schedules to ensure appropriate lab coverage at all times.

Review proficiency testing results, incident reports, and oversee specimen accessioning and quality control functions. Assure appropriate training and comprehension of lab personnel for quality assurance.

Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CLIA, and OSHA regulations, including maintaining confidentiality and understanding and adhering to regulatory requirements.

Evaluate test volume versus supply orders to maintain adequate inventory levels.

Review, revise, and communicate changes to policies and procedures to affected parties.

Oversees scheduled maintenance, corrective actions, and troubleshooting to ensure result quality and performance efficiency through the maintaining of lab documentation.

Carry out any assigned tasks and duties, as assigned by the Laboratory Operations Manager

Education and/or Experience

Associates degree and at least 5 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting OR Bachelors degree and at least 3 years in a clinical laboratory setting required.

Supervisory experience preferred.

Hours and Schedule

Monday-Friday; 8:00am-5:00pm
