Job Description
Performs analyses on blood, tissue, and body fluids to aid healthcare providers in the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of patients. Testing is performed in specialized laboratories and may include highly skilled manual techniques or automated testing using sophisticated instrumentation. Responsibilities may include instrument operation and maintenance, troubleshooting assays, evaluating tests for accuracy, assisting with interpreting results, and operational support activities to optimize testing. Works with multiple computer systems to retrieve information and report results. May work with minimal supervision and may assist with specimen collection. Must strictly adhere to safety protocols to work with infectious specimens, chemicals, and other hazards.
ResponsibilitiesOperate and maintain laboratory instruments.Troubleshoot assays and evaluate test accuracy.Assist in interpreting test results.Provide operational support to optimize testing.Work with multiple computer systems to retrieve information and report results.Adhere to safety protocols for working with infectious specimens, chemicals, and other hazards.Possibly assist with specimen collection.Essential SkillsExperience with operation and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and assay systems.Ability to produce accurate results under time constraints.Capability to multi-task and perform in a fast-paced and changing environment.Good communication skills and ability to work closely with others.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in chemistry or a human biological science (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Animal Science, Marine Biology, Neuroscience).Must not be out of lab work for more than 1 year.Healthcare experience is a plus.Master's degree accepted, but not PhD or engineering.OPT accepted.Work Environment
1st Position Details: Monday - Friday: 7:00AM - 3:30PM. No weekends. 2nd Position Details: Monday - Friday: 3:00PM - 11:30PM. No weekends. 3rd Position Details: Tuesday - Friday: 3:00PM - 11:30PM, 11:00AM - 7:30PM. The work environment includes specialized laboratories, working with sophisticated instrumentation, and adherence to strict safety protocols. The organization provides free bus passes to contract employees.
Pay Rate: $25/hr
