Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW: Clinical & Forensic Toxicology Technician performs immunoassay screening as well as confirmatory and targeted screening analyses. Confirmatory testing is performed on both gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) platforms and utilize solid phase extraction (SPE), supported liquid extraction (SLE), liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) as well as dilute-and-shoot for sample preparation. Additional sample preparations may involve a protein crash or hydrolysis pre-treatments depending on the analytes in question. Targeted screening assays are dilute-and-shoot assays running on LC-MS/MS platforms with high resolution accurate mass (HRAM) analyzers. We are a 24-hour laboratory 365 days a year. We are mainly testing for drugs of abuse, including illegal ones, and legal ones that have a tendency to be abused. We test primarily for pain centers and hospital settings and do not perform workplace drug testing. We do perform Chain of Custody testing. Our matrices include urine, meconium, oral fluids, serum, and whole blood.
QualificationsBachelor's degree in a Life Science field (Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, etc)Ideally 3mo+ experience in an undergraduate researcher/research assistant roleIdeally prior experience working in a hospital/clinic
