Clinical Lecturer

Iona University’s Honors Program, in partnership with Iona’s English Department, invites applications for a renewable, full-time clinical lecturer position to begin in Fall 2025. This is a dual appointment in the Honors Program and the English Department.

Candidates should have broad expertise in the humanities, exhibit excellence as teacher-scholars, and specialize in Shakespeare studies. Special consideration will be given to candidates with

teaching experience and scholarly interest in Shakespeare studies and in the humanities; interest in the public humanities and service-learning; experience with a variety of pedagogical approaches to advance student learning and to guide students toward academic excellence; and a commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities include teaching 12 credits per term in person (9 in Honors and 3 in English). More specifically, the lecturer will be expected to teach Major Works of Shakespeare, Honors humanities seminars, and the Honors Cornerstone—an introductory first-year seminar on the value of the liberal arts. The lecturer may also have an opportunity to help design and teach The Honors Experience, a new service-learning course for third-year Honors students. Commitment to service to the institution, if not scholarship, is also expected.

Completion of all requirements for a Ph.D. in English, or in a closely related field, is required by the start of employment (August 2025).

To apply, please submit a C.V., cover letter, a teaching philosophy, and three references.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. To ensure full consideration, please apply by March 1, 2025.
