Job Summary:The Clinical Manager (Palliative) assumes leadership accountability and responsibility for interdisciplinary team operations to ensure delivery of patient care that promotes quality, is outcome based, and is cost efficient.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of inpatient and outpatient Palliative Care departments, ensuring established policies and procedures are being followed and needs of physicians, staff, and patients are being met.Facilitates the integration of new physicians into the practice, working with other departments and agencies as required; coordinates activities related to physician recruitment and credentialing.Analyzes department’s systems and procedures, recommending and implementing changes in conjunction with senior management.Coordinates purchasing of supplies and equipment, working within established budgetary guidelines and obtaining required approval for expenditures as appropriate.Develops and implements policies and procedures to address practice needs, ensuring that written policies and procedures exist for all essential aspects of practice’s operations. Revises and monitors ongoing compliance with procedures and implements corrective action as necessary.Establishes and implements goals for assigned area and subordinate staff.Responsible for the recruitment, selection, orientation, and performance evaluation process for assigned staff.Ensures quality care that meets agency and regulatory requirements and appropriate utilization of palliative services.Participates in preparation of the annual budget. Reviews financial statements for assigned area and prepares report of significant budget variances, including corrective action plans as required.Facilitates resolution of issues and conflicts related to palliative care and staff.Participates in the administrative on-call schedule.Performs other related duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Registered Nurse with BSN or Social Worker with MSW required.
A minimum of 2 (two) years management/supervisory experience required.
A minimum of 3 (three) years of hospice and/or palliative care experience required.
Demonstrates proficiency in hospice regulations and competence in industry best practices through literature review and attending educational offerings.
Demonstrates knowledge, understanding and ability to work in a health system.
