Job Description
Performs analyses on blood, tissue, and body fluids to aid health care providers in the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of patients. Testing is performed in specialized laboratories and may include highly skilled manual techniques or automated testing using sophisticated instrumentation. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: instrument operation and maintenance, troubleshooting assays, evaluating tests for accuracy, assisting with interpreting results, and operational support activities to optimize testing. Works with multiple computer systems to retrieve information and report results. May work with minimal supervision and may assist with specimen collection. Must strictly adhere to safety protocols to work with infectious specimens, chemicals, and other hazards.
ResponsibilitiesOperate and maintain laboratory instrumentation.Troubleshoot assays and evaluate tests for accuracy.Assist with interpreting test results.Provide operational support to optimize testing processes.Work with multiple computer systems to retrieve information and report results.Adhere strictly to safety protocols when working with infectious specimens, chemicals, and other hazards.Assist with specimen collection as needed.Essential SkillsExperience with operation and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and assay systems.Ability to produce accurate results under time constraints.Capability to multi-task and perform in a fast-paced, changing environment.Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with others.Flexibility to accommodate scheduling adjustments, off-shifts, holiday, on-call, and weekend work assignments.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in chemistry or a human biological science (Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Animal Science, Marine Biology, Neuroscience, etc.).Preferred degrees: Chemistry and Biochemistry.Experience with instrumentation (GC, LC, HPLC, MS) preferred.Experience with laboratory practices in a college, research, or clinical setting is a plus but not required.Will accept Master's degree; not PhD.Work Environment
This role primarily utilizes HPLC, LC/MS/MS, or GC/MS and supports the therapeutic drug and vitamin testing teams. There are four distinct career progression pathways: Instrumentation Technical Specialist, QA, Management, and Education. Openings are available for M-F 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM and M-F 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM. Training shifts may vary from the shift of hire, with first shift Monday-Friday day shift training for up to 1-2 months prior to moving into the regular schedule. Full availability for shift and days, including weekends, is required.
Pay Rate: $25/hr
