The Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences is seeking a full-time clinical MRI Physicist. The Department operates over 35 MRI systems across the metro Atlanta area. The ideal candidate will work within a collaborative physics team to help manage clinical protocols and regulatory compliance, while fostering MR education, innovation, and best practices in quality and safety. Essential roles and responsibilities include:
Provide on-call technical and application support for MRI sites, including Emory Healthcare and Grady Health System.Liaise with radiologists and technologists to ensure effective MRI protocol implementation, operational workflow, safety, education, and patient care.Install, maintain, and update standardized MR protocols and sequences; oversee image quality; troubleshoot artifacts; improve operational efficiency.Facilitate ongoing TJC and ACR compliance, through annual system surveys, image quality review, and technologist’s weekly QA/QC program oversightPartner with administrative and physician leaders to develop and implement system-wide quality and safety policies and procedures. Serve as an MRI safety expert resource for technologists and radiologists.Interface with MRI system vendors to document downtime, guide effective applications training, and explore collaborative project opportunities. Advise Department about new system technology, upgrades, purchases, and siting.Provide MR physics education, training, and mentorship to imaging physics and medical residents; develop educational resources and sessions for technologists and radiologists. Minimum Qualifications
PhD in medical physics or related physical sciences or engineering discipline.Experience and knowledge of MRI physics principles, including clinical applications, safety, and compliance testingExperience with MRI technology and system operation for GE and Siemens, including protocol and sequence optimizationStrong communication and time management skills; motivated, flexible and collaborative.Certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Radiology.Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience and accomplishments.
