The Pre-transplant Nurse Navigator for the Bone Marrow/Stem Cell Transplant and Immune Cell Therapy Pre-Transplant Program coordinates the care needs of assigned patients and develops comprehensive plans to manage care delivery across the patient care continuum in order to get patients to transplant. Incumbent will partner with patients and their primary transplant physician to develop customized care plans based on their individual needs and preferences. Incumbent collaborates with physicians, nurses, health professionals, social work, and others to ensure appropriate tests and treatments are delivered in a timely fashion in order to bring patients to transplant in a timely and effective manner while ensuring we are providing the best care for our patients. Incumbent advocates for the patient, and balances care needs and financial considerations to ensure efficient and effective treatments are achieved. Incumbent helps align donor for allogeneic transplants (either related or through donor networks).  Incumbent helps educate the patient and family members about the transplant process and all it entails.  Incumbent participates in weekly rounds to discuss patients with an interdisciplinary team to promote positive outcomes for their patients.

Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN). Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred. Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license. Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. 3-5 years of experience preferred. Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies. Specialty certifications may be required per unit/department specialty in accordance with the department provision of care. Requires knowledge of personal computers using various types of word processing and database software. Requires clinical work experience, medical terminology. Requires understanding of medical record requirements, regulations and policies.
