Position Overview:
IU Health West in Avon, IN is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Lung Cancer Screening Navigator to join our team. In this essential role, you will contribute to the development and expansion of our lung cancer screening program while collaborating closely with IU Health West’s Department of Pulmonary Medicine, the End Lung Cancer Now group, and various other healthcare teams to coordinate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for our patients. This role will work Monday-Friday, day shift and enjoy a balanced work schedule with no weekend, holiday, or on-call duties! This position will start out as in-person at West Hospital’s Pulmonology Clinic, and has the potential to move to 2 remote days after orientation and a robust training period.

Patient Support:
Increase community awareness about lung cancer screening. Work with insurance providers to obtain necessary authorizations for tests. Assess patients’ needs and make appropriate referrals. Manage scheduling for tests, appointments, and treatments, serving as the main contact for patients needing follow-up. Educate and advocate for patients to navigate barriers to care.Program Development:
In addition to patient-specific responsibilities, the Navigator will educate hospital staff and community providers about the lung screening process, fostering relationships with community providers and various West Hospital departments to enhance patient care continuity. You will coordinate multidisciplinary consultations and develop educational materials to streamline the patient journey. A focus on timely appointments and effective communication is crucial, alongside the ability to assess and report on program outcomes and maintain strong interdepartmental relationships.
Qualifications:
Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN). Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred. Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license. Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. 3-5 years of experience preferred. Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies. Specialty certifications may be required per unit/department specialty in accordance with the department provision of care. Requires knowledge of personal computers using various types of word processing and database software. Requires clinical work experience, medical terminology. Requires understanding of medical record requirements, regulations and policies.
