Major Responsibilities:

Responsible for all investigational drug receipt, storage, accountability, dispensing, and destruction.  Actively participates in investigational drug studies/protocols that may benefit patient outcomes at UMMHC.Responsible for monitoring and oversight of all ongoing investigational drug activity by researchers and pharmacy staff.Maintains an accurate inventory of all investigational and protocol drugs.Coordinates the preparation and dispensing of investigational drugs.Supervises technical and support personnel.Serves as resource to investigators and study staff.Prepares a Pharmacy budget for any new investigational study requiring Pharmacy participation.In collaboration with the Director of the Office of Clinical Research, assesses operational issues, and helps to establish policies and procedures regarding clinical trials.Documents income/cost savings that result from the Investigational Drug Service.Meets all agency requirements (federal and sponsor) for adequate control and accountability of investigational drugs.Prepares and submits monthly activity reports.Coordinates and maintains an educational database for all approved studies; provides staff education to patient care staff.May serves as an appointed member of the Human Subjects Committee.Participates in weekend rotational coverage for oncology/investigational drugs.Actively participates and trains, with the Office of Research, in the Good Clinical Practice educational process quarterly.Communicates with pharmacy staff on studies in a regular basis.May be required to perform additional duties as determined by Manager.

Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:
Required:

PharmD. Degree or equivalent training in Pharmacy.  Must be licensed or qualified to practice in Massachusetts.

Experience/Skills:
Required:

Two to four years of related clinical experience with demonstrated experience. Working knowledge of pharmacy systems and database management.  Demonstrated ability in teaching; excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
